Kindergarten teacher charged with ill-treating child

That kindy teacher is not fit to teach.


Resorting to physical violence and stripping the young child in front of the whole class is absolutely deplorable and unforgiving.

Stripping the child of her clothes as punishment is as good as stripping her of her dignity. What did the child do to warrant this public shaming? Shouldn't the teacher exercise more self control to regulate her emotions and resolve errant students issues in a more empathetic way instead of resorting to such harsh and inhuman means? Is there a mental problem with her? I am sure she wouldn't treat her own child this way if she had one.

Goes to show the degeneration of values young people have nowadays. That kindy teacher should be stripped of her right to teach forever. She definitely brought shame to the teaching profession with her horrendous acts.

All mums love their kids...shaming a 5 year old this way is uncalled for. If this teacher is married with kids, can her kids be shamed the same way by another person?

That teacher's face should be on the front page of ST.

Actually, if this lady were a Mom, I won't be surprised if she did that to her own kid. People like that should be legally barred from giving birth to children and from going near other people's children.

As a parent, I do not interfere in school affairs unless there is a need to...for eg excessive homework which is due the next day. AND if his hair is long, I will bring him to get a hair cut myself.

If this happened to my child, I will make sure TEACHER'S name and pic is published. I am sure many would want to see her face. And I will send my child to see a psychiatrist to make sure she is not traumatised.

I might sue the teacher and the management, if this happen to my kid. :nunchuk:

What the other teachers do when saw such incidents happen? They got do anything to stop?

Is this person certified to teach ? Does she have a certificate or diploma in pre-school teaching? It seems unlikely that the other teachers didn't see this incident. Did they keep quiet bcos they are scared?

Sometime last year when DD was in P1, the class schedules were revised and I think we didn't receive the revised schedules yet. DD forgot her PE t-shirt for the PE lesson. She heard from her friend (who also forgot to bring) that her teacher (male one some more) had threatened earlier that those who forget will be punished by not wearing any top! I was so shocked but also thought maybe DD's friend had misunderstood the teacher. In any case, I called up the school and said that perhaps the kids had mistaken, but if true, the teacher should not be threatening the kids that way. In the meantime, my helper rushed down to send her a PE t-shirt, only to find that the school had already lent one to my DD. :roll:

This issue is not abt having certification to teach or not.


Black sheeps (in any industry) can be super educated but lacking in EQ and interpersonal skills. Sometimes even values & morals. A person can have all the qualification required yet it does not mean they're perfect. You just cannot possibly tell upon hiring them. There are no tell-tale signs. Just look at that MOE scholar owning, watching, filming porn of young kids below 7!

One colleague from my early days in the industry punished a boy to stand outside the class and I cautioned her that her student was the bo chap sort and having him outside the class may not be a wise idea cos cannot see what he was / could be up to. She was too angry to listen. Neither would she even consider to let him stand in my class. She wanted him to feel that he's going to sacrifice the fun the class was gg to hv next. To feel excluded.

After my class finished physical education period, I purposely walked by from her end of the corridor just to check in the boy (didn't feel good abt him being left out of sight) and lo and behold, true enough he was gone! I quickly told my colleague. I was afraid that the mischievous boy might jump over the corridor of the second floor and *gasp*! Both of us immediately looked down, over the railings of the corridor. He wasn't there! I told her to go find him while I help her watch over her class. It finally sunk in how serious it was as she became rather frantic.

Guess where he was?

also the child may not be well maybe having learning difficulties or some problems that may cause her to behave like that? shouldn’t the teacher investigate first with her parents rather than cause this punishement…

[/quote]I taught my kids from young that they have sovereign control over their own bodies. We role-played responses to situations where another adult forces them to take off clothes etc... I think (not sure) mine would have told that adult off and then told me.

Happily, my kids had WONDERFUL kindergarten teachers. Very loving. Also PAP Foundation preschool.

News only stated she was an ex PCF teacher. Did not say which branch, whether childcare or kindergarten.

It is the action of 1 teacher, that teacher has been removed from the school and the matter is being investigated, why should parents not involved withdraw their kids?
