To put us back on topic..............HI moms out there with gals in OLGC,would like to have more insight of the school fr yr experience..
I heard fr my fren the school PSG is almost none existence and that bcos the parents are not allowed on sch premise,no parents seems to know each other or get together to discuss on homeworks or coming test etc??? Is it true?
My son is P2 in CHS,i actively volunteers for his class, from weekly Literacy reading to them or helping out during CNY class party etc,i built a good relationship/friendship with teachers n most importantly parents..We call or apps each other if our boys lost spelling list or to double check on homework..or even complain/moan about coming chinese test
However i heard my fren's P1 gal dont have that kind of support and worse her chinese has mental issues and taking medication
I have posted before about the PSG and I would say that it isn't very active. They pushed very hard for parents to sign up both at orientation and on the first day of P1. They also held a PSG meeting for P1 & P2 parents in term 1 to explain what it was all about but after that, nothing.
I told them that I am working so it is hard for me to commit on a regular basis but I can help out with ad-hoc things and as I work from home once a week and we are close to the school, I could help out with remedial reading or something that day. But they never came back to me.
I volunteered for a National Day event last year when my daughter was in P1 as they sent an email out to all parents but there were very few parents there.
I have a feeling that the most active part of the PSG is the Mums Club which is made up predominately of non-working Mums who seem to be quite a close-knit group.
As for getting to know other Mums. You are right to say that you aren't allowed in the school but the parents/helpers/grandparents do gather at the front & back gates before dismissal so that is a chance to meet a few people. I have met most of the other Mums because of birthday parties. That usually gives you a chance to meet them as well as at least get the hp number of the mother hosting the 1st party. Then you will find that it is the same girls attending each party so you soon get to know the parents. Girls are generally better than boys at finding friends and you will soon find your daughter will have phone numbers of all her friends! -

No kidding, this P1 mom had a disagreement with this young Chinese teacher which she(teacher) blew conversation out of proportion thus accused mom ot being difficult when all the mom wanted was to clarify...she slam phone on the mom.when the angry mom met school HOD of Chinese department to address this unacceptable behaviour...they asked her to not pursue matter as the Chinese teacher has mental issue and addressing it with medication..i was shock by their \"sweep under carpet\" practise but disturb by school having a teacher whim I will be concern if she was to be a primary school teacher:-(
OMG! :scared:
My DD going P1 next year. -
My goodness! So scary! I supposed if I were the offended mum, I’d pursue the matter further. The school can’t just sweep everything under the carpet and pretend nothing is amiss! It’s ridiculous! Is she even fit to be around young children?
Well, I’m sorry if I sound very unsympathetic to the problems and illness the teacher is facing but my priority is to protect my child first. -

My thoughts were the same when my fren shared the incident with me...teacher's behaviour was appalling and to know the teacher had mental condition is disturbing...My goodness! So scary! Hi singaporesling, anyway what did your friend do after the fracas with the teacher and the ‘appeal’ from the HOD? Did she just let the matter rest or does she intend to do something about it? If yes, what is she doing or going to do About it?
