Funz:
True what, every school, a good school.

Never say every school is equally good in all the same areas. So can be good in churning top scorers, can be good in sports, can be good in performing arts, can be good at cutting hair, can be good in churning out dropouts.

Why when school and good put together, we inevitably think academic results?
You maybe right. Which good school is your dream school? Is it the cutting hair one? Can save money. :rotflmao:
If every school is a good school, why can't we find ministers' kids in the neighbourhood schools.

        exactly !

        Similarly for the U too.

That's because our ministers do not stay in the HdB estates. They live in districts 9, 10 and 11 where most good schools are within their Neighbourhood.
Not just that, they will definitely send their kids back to their alma maters cos of \" their love and passion for their alma maters\". This is one reason why it is difficult to completely remove the alumni phase.

So every school is a good school is to convince who hah?

          :scratchhead:

Every school is good but not every school is equally good. By removing the banding of sec schools don't make much difference. There is still IP, GEP, SAP. Everyone know which are the elite schools & band 1 schools. Anyway, ministers' kids will not be affected.

Minister, please substantiate your claims once you have achieved the goal of every school is a good school? Not until I can see every pri school is producing the similar PSLE result with a similar spread from 200-280+, I'm totally unconvinced for now! The same for sec school. :skeptical:

After all, the result means everything and should be part of the indicator to access the school.

Perhaps we should read http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/speeches/2012/09/12/keynote-address-by-mr-heng-swee-keat-at-wps-2012.php?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+singapore-education%2Fspeeches+%28Speeches%29&utm_content=FeedBurner and understand what MOE is talking about.

Say if the result does not mean anything. How did you define a good school?

Please help us to understand \"every school is a good school\" better! Thank you

“Every School [is] a Good School” – as highlighted by Minister Heng in his speech.

What do you think about this?

Melodies... :snuggles: :hugs: ... I know how you feel. I've been feeling this for 2 years. I read HSK's speech. He has STOPPED saying that every school is a good school NOW. He is mapping the way towards Every School a Good School. He wants to work towards that vision.

Many of our children have been hurt by the system as it was. Mine included... even though... I think I was largely able to rescue him and put him in the top 5% of his school... so maybe I am not the best person to advise people to forgive and move on. Many many were a lot more hurt than me and Little Boy. I know that. Because of whom I am and what I am capable of, Little Boy has largely come through unscathed.

If you can't forgive and move on, I completely understand. It's just that in HSK's speech he has given a promise for a better and more loving educational system. If you can bring yourself to forgive, then I think the vision he maps out in his speech is worth supporting.

HSK took on a hefty portfolio. I think he and his team are only now beginning to find their feet and able to craft a vision to fix the ills of the system that was. The system needs some time to adjust. Maybe we can withhold judgment TEMPORARILY and see how MOE's further actions pan out in support of HSK's vision.

Hi Chen, I thought I have heard this for quite a while without realizing the MOE has come up something to work towards the vision of Every School a Good School.

BTW, I bought your book and I just realized that my dd was reading the book without my knowledge (the one - how to motivate your child to want to study) and she was reading chapter 6 and told me it is a good book and she enjoyed it!(she is in P3 now) :faint:

Do you think it is ok for her to read? :nailbite:

                      Thanks for the advice.

U are saying u expecting a school with a COP OF 230 to have the same % of quality passes as another one with 260 :scratchhead:
If that ever happens, I think the 230 one is d**n f :censored: king good!
