      Xiao Hu:

      Hi Chenonceau, Lynn2,
May I know what kind of \"correction\" tool or methond your child uses then? What does the school ask the student to use to correct words or numbers written wrongly?

      Thanks,
      Xiaohu

Cancellation. But first, try to think before writing. Also, we used a different colour pen when things get too messy. After some months of practice, DS was neater and so didn't need the different colour pen anymore.

I had thought the correction fluid type might be what you may answer, though this can be messy also as it can be smeared easily when not dried. So your child would strike the mistake out and write the correct one? Using a different color pen is a good suggestion. My son's teacher asked the class to use Green for corrections, good choice of color.

Oops, sorry for posting twice as I pressed submit button twice.

      Thanks,
      Xiaohu

          Just sharing some stress relief.

I got this from OnSponge. Some kids’ answers to Science exam ques.
          Q: Name the four seasons.
A: Salt, pepper, mustard and vinegar.

Q: Explain one of the processes by which water can be made safe to drink.
A: Flirtation makes water safe to drink because it removes large pollutants like grit, sand, dead sheep and canoeists.

          Q: How is dew formed?
A: The sun shines down on the leaves and makes them perspire.

Q: How can you delay milk turning sour? (Brilliant, love this!)
A: Keep it in the cow.

Q: What causes the tides in the oceans?
A: The tides are a fight between the Earth and the Moon. All water tends to flow towards the moon, because there is no water on the moon, and nature hates a vacuum. I forget where the sun joins in this fight.

          Q: What are steroids?
A: Things for keeping carpets still on the stairs.

Q: What happens to your body as you age?
A: When you get old, so do your bowels and you get intercontinental

Q: What happens to a boy when he reaches puberty?
A: He says good-bye to his boyhood and looks forward to his adultery. (The kid gets an A+ for this answer!)

Q: Name a major disease associated with cigarettes.
          A: Premature death.

Q: How are the main parts of the body categorized? ( e.g., abdomen)
A: The body is consisted into three parts – the brainium, the borax and the abdominal cavity. Th e brainium contains the brain; the boraxcontains the heart and lungs, and the abdominal cavity contains the five bowels A, E, I, O, and U.

          Q: What is the fibula?
          A: A small lie.

Q: What does ‘varicose’ mean? (I do love this one…)
          A: Nearby.

Q: Give the meaning of the term ‘Caesarian Section.’
A: The Caesarian Section is a district in Rome.

Q: What does the word ‘benign’ mean?'
A: Benign is what you will be after you be eight.

Ds don't log in to kip but I'll definitely show him this!
            Chenonceau:

To all the 12 Year Olds that log in here because they are such GOOD children who WANT to do well here is some advice from a psychologist...

            (1) Stay calm. Just because everyone else is squealing their stress doesn't mean you have to. The more you think you are stressed, the more stressed you will be. That will interfere with your focus especially if you cannot channel your energy properly.

            (2) Do your best. Whatever will be will be. There is a measure of LUCK in every exam. If you don't do well, it DOES NOT mean you are dumb. You should NEVER let any exam tell you you're stupid. Never lose faith in yourself because faith can move mountains.... if not now, later in life. Never lose faith in yourself.

            (3) Know that there are many many Mommies and Daddies on this forum on the sidelines to cheer you on.

            (4) Know that whatever stress your parents pile on you, they do it because they love you. Look past their scoldings and see their love for you. This will give you strength in the darkest hour.

            (5) If the exam is difficult, it is difficult for EVERYONE. The silly PSLE is a bell curve. It doesn't matter how many questions you can't do as long as even the best in the subject ALSO doesn't know how to do.

With many kisses and hugs from Aunty Chen, go face your PSLE like a Warrior King/Queen. No fear.

            Dear Chenonceau
Thank you for the very useful advice, will share with DD. God bless to all P6 children taking PSLE exams tomorrow.

                  HWBW:
Yesterday, DS's teacher mention can't use correction tape. This morning I removed it from his pencil case, and this make him crying, and DH blamed me make son upset. What to do? DS is so depend on the correct tape. :stupid:

My son also depends a lot on the correction tape, especially for Math paper. He is very careless & will end up very untidy if I ban him from using it. Don't make your son panic or it might affect his performance. Although teachers discourage them from using it but MOE did not ban the kids from using it. My boy is still using it as per normal till today & I just leave it to him. Most importantly, the kids must feel comfortable, remain calm & be confident. All the best to all the dragon babies & their mummies.
