When my son was in kindy, Sundays meant outings.

After he went to P1, it was still possible to go out on Sundays if there were no CA/SA. But those outings were meant to give him time to relax.
As he moved up, those outings were replaced by revision, either Math or Science since hubby was free. It was sickening to have our time dictated by homework or exams. Weekends are so precious and yet the time spent is not bonding over ice cream or outing but over books.

We tried to coach him as much as possible…hence I do pity those kids whose parents are unable to coach them. It can be so frustrating when we parents want so much to fill in the gaps but could not.

        Hi Janet

Think the stress level is more on primary school. When come to Sec 1 it seems that we have more free time and unlike in primary school that lot of past year papers have to be practice in order to get a reasonable mark.

FYI, like the CL compo. and email for Secondary One exam is two hours vs the P5/P6 50 munities.

          Ha Brenda,

Glad to see your post !
You are the perfect parent to seek advice.

I thought there are 8-9 subjects to manage at sec level...how is it possible to have more free time? :?
Will need to ask you for advice soon.

One can choose to be kancheong or even kiasu or whatever.

If one has chosen to be so, then perhaps he/she should take up all the stress and pressure instead of keep harping and harping and harping non-stop.

This forum seems like lacking balance views from parents who are more ‘relaxed’ and more level-headed and the KC and KS ones are much more vocal. Therefore, not-so-KC and KS parents have to note that this forum is not a balanced one when you read about how difficult and how tough the whatsoever and whatsoever is. It is NOT THE TRUTH (unless you are going after results for super sec schools then maybe you need to be KC and KS to that extent else please, there is really plenty of time to smell roses instead of burying your nose in schoolwork).

I wonder why no parents whose kids enjoy schooling participate more in this forum to give this forum a more balanced view instead of making it so lop-sided. It’s just a PSLE and why it sounds like it’s a major war?

I am one of the non KC/KS one; but like Nebbernind said, the typical non KC/KS ones just cannot be bother to engage in these topics.

That's why we must push for workday to end by 6pm!

This is only possible if working in a local platform. Global platform means working Asian + European + American hours. Good day means leave at 9pm, bad day after midnight. 🤷

Can only call home to make sure kids are studying on their own and hope they are telling the truth. :xedfingers:

Typical non-Kc/Ks are probably also more Bo-chup?? So naturally engage less 😉
I think all of us have some degree of kc & ks.......but probably some feel more intensely & will harp more  Again, also a natural behaviour 😄

It's really depends on how KS one is.

Just read a thread asking if tuition is necessary for NJC...if already DSA (acad) into NJC, or can get in via S1 (t-score = mid 250), then must be already quite good what. Still need tuition meh?
I mean, last time many of us also not anywhere close to RI calibre, no tuition...yet still went on to complete O, A and a degree.
