I also do not believe in all schools are the same. Some principals are more competent than the others, some are more hardworking. Similarly for trs, even in the same school, some teachers are better than the others, some works very hard, planning the lessons and worksheets for their students, some go home at 1 pm, but sad to say, the hardworking trs are sometimes not rewarded.

Is it becos of bell curve that’s why only 10% will score 250 and above ?

Yes this is correct. If you want SCGS either IP or O levels, you have to choose SCGS IP and SCGS O levels separately, using 2 out of your 6 choices.I'm reading one or two pages a day and am starting to get confused.
I read in the booklet that if you put in eg IP for SCGS as a choice but did not make it for the COP for IP, you would not be automatically given a place for normal route even if you qualify. Hence, to be on the safe side, can we select a school twice to be on the safe side eg IP SCGS and normal route SCGS ? -
Scoring 250 is definitely not easy…that means 2 A* and 2 As.
I am hoping for that too. -
Unfortunately, even though 250 is not easy to get, that score will not even give you a glimmer of hope of getting into the top secondary schools if you have no affiliation. :scared:
If I could do it all over again, I would get dd into a primary school with affiliation. -

250 is only tip of the ice berg.
for affliated good pri school children - obtain 250 can get them into a Top Sec school, at least still can enter minimal O level track, if can't enter IP.
but for Non-affliated kids - obtain 250 can't even put 1 leg in, step into the entrance door of those Top Sec school. Need minimal lowest entry score of 26X +
that's why the wait list Transfer queue from parents for Transfer into good, affliated Primary schools is so .... long queue -

if there are only 10 vacancies left for 250 and there are 50 applicants having the same results of 250 and select the same school, how does the school select the 10 students with 50 applicants? -

Regards to above discussion on 'Posting of Schools', if yr child just meet the COP of that sch, don't hesitate to place it as yr First Choice. As sch allocation is based on Merit n not 'First Come First Served Basis', even if the child doesn't get in, he/she can still appeal.
By placing that sch as the first choice, it shows sincerity and the eagerness of child want'g to get into the sch.
Certain Schs only allow appeal when child has placed them as first choice. -

These 50 applicants will still be ranked by their score. All P6 cohort students who sat for PSLE - their results are stored in centralized MOE database. Schools can retrieve anytime from computer, for information access.
even if child put it down as 1st choice, however in the event other pupils are way before this child in terms of PSLE score (ALL P6 students' score results are ranked to the infinite number of decimal points), this child may not be able to go in. Others with a higher / better PSLE score will enter first. At the very most, this child is placed on a wait list to appeal ....
