And they play punk. Leave not approved, on the day that they applied for that leave, they will say they not well, got MC.
yes, horrible, isn't itSarChar:
Imagine once I heard Colleague A said she would have 40 days leave next yr. She meant \"20 days leave + MC 14 days + 6 days Child Leave\" to me. Really got such people okie :yikes:
Really wonder which doctor they go to. Is it they buy a season pass or MC booklet beforehand....

Funz:
[/quote]Ya lor, she is exactly like that....takes urgent leave but turned up with MC the next day. If she wants to take MC tomorrow, you can hear her talk about feeling sick during lunch today!Joule:

Once this Colleague A even told another colleague \"If you are really sick, go to doctor A. But you know if just a little sick, got to doctor B. He is cheaper and can get 2 days MC.\"
Even after her new manager (she used to report to me) signs her leave form, she always forget to send the form up to HR. If HR lady doesnt take note, she would get a free OFF day.
We have a new colleague recently and local boss said to her \" We dont need you to break Colleague A's MC records ! \"
Colleague A's acted blur lor

Mine was the HOD. He thinks I am his walking encyclopedia, dictionary, thesaurus, recepticle for all sorts of information and garbage alike. So I was always involved in discussions, meetings, etc. His wife quitted after having a kid because of workplace related stress - so they don't want me to follow her footsteps. :rotflmao:Your boss is the REAL boss har...like the business owner?
Think most of our bosses still a company employee
And yes, I had colleagues too, that was branded the MC queen, MC King, and there were many Challengers.... And then, some play the pregnancy card and rise through the ranks of the MC Queens. So my boss wanted to make it clear that he will tolerate me being late or leaving early if I have to - so I don't have to play the MC card. But Administration and HR cried foul because MC must be full day, punctuality, etc. My ex-boss challenged them, \"So, you would rather she utilise all her 30 days of MC and 60 days of Hospitalisation leave, is it????\" :yikes:
He is also the sort of guy that would reschedule a meeting with his boss because \"there is a PTC at school\"
So when I have to take time off for my children - MC, PTC, Nursery, Fever, whatever... he will roll his eyes .... but insists that \"of course you must go!!\" :siam:
Alas... those were the better days. Since changed job and current HOD is a DINK! I report to HOD but there is this Nazi Manager. Of course, nobody is supposed to know or ask what kind of leave she is taking (not recorded in our system!); and the other staff that has a kid has a flexi-hour hubby. So, only fellow forumers here would understand my situation...

This is the ideal way but no lor, it is not happening at my end now....they MC their business.
but they must finish their own share of work.

those who have \"season pass\" just :siam: . Those who are around will spread the job lor. Hence I always say, this method is just going to promote more mc rate.

My theory is this.
More flexibility = less mc.
Because mc is otherwise easy to obtain and afterall, an entitlement. -

mc is quite rampant among the non exec staff where I am. For exec/mgr, our work will remain our work...go mc, come back still gotta do.My theory is this.

My company don’t have MC king or queen only Affairs king and queen. Always found this married guy having affair with that married admin gal and the FC having affair with the boy next door, blah, blah…So tired of them.

Anyone working stat board? I wonder if it is a good idea to leave Pte sector for stat board? Will it be v different?? My current workplace is quite pro-family. I let my staff convert to pt basis as her son is taking O levels this yr. I was working pt too for 6 months after the birth of my DD2. I wonder if stat board can be flexible…
-
Re working in Statboards… The grass may not be greener on that side. I know of people that work in Stat boards, Gov, and Non-profit… it all depends on the team/department that you are with. Some are flexible and on their staff handbook, allows you to start as early as 7am (end at 4pm) or as late as 10am (end at 7pm); and even have allocation for tele-commute (work from home) - but the fine print always state that the approval is from your immediate supervisor / HOD.
We each have different priorities in different stages of our lives - is it to establish a career, to climb the corporate ladder, to spend more time with kids, to make a lot of money, or to do something we like, etc. At the moment my priority I have decided to have mainly a low-key 9-5 job and spend a lot of time with the kids. And the nursery is just down the road from my office. So I will be here for a few more years.
