it's an insult to the law students and lawyers as this guy is studying law and yet commits this offensive act with knowledge of the possible legal consequences in our conservative society.

He's using his law background to his advantage. He claimed what he did will not land him in any legal trouble...

maybe, he can use money to solve his problem if he is being punished by law in Msia, that's why he claimed so... 😓

You're right. The girl mentioned in the interview that she doesn't care what her parents or others felt about what she had done. Must have broken her parents' hearts by such comment.

everything is about themselves. nothing about the feelings of others and their loved ones. So sad

The world is not just a black or white scale of colour. I think his mindset of pushing himself to success is worth emulating.

[/quote]Yes RJC and apparently did well there. When netizens asked for his scholarship to be revoked, and the sum amounting to $110 000 (allowance, transport, grants) returned, he challenged with a \"Why should I?\"
The best part of this is there is no bond attached to this ASEAN Undergrad Scholarship!! What's our govt thinking?

Couldn’t the girl have thought of her parents before doing such a thing? Even if she doesn’t value herself, she should give a thought to her loved ones who raised her. How are her parents going to face anyone? Really sad.

Maybe the girl's heart was broken/hurt by someone she loved (e.g. Her parents) before.... Maybe she feels that nobody cares about what she feel, thats why she retaliates with a \"i dont care what they feel!\". Have it ever occur to you or anyone in general? Young children are the most magnanimous and loving group of individuals I know. They are the one's who really give unconditional love. Until one day they are old enough and they realize that those people whom they have loved so much are not loving them back, they turn bad.

I don't know the girl. Just making a general comment about why some people grow up to become so twisted in their thinking. But yup, sad for the parents and the girl. I dont think the girl will gain real happiness from this saga. Attention may bring short lived satisfaction but it is no where near true happiness.

                        NUS SEX BLOGGER

                        'I have only one regret'
Undergrad sorry NUS was dragged into controversy, but he remains defiant

                        Published on Oct 19, 2012
                        The Straits Times

                        By Pearl Lee

THE university scholar whose sex blog has garnered attention and criticism on both sides of the Causeway claims to have only one regret - that his institution's name was dragged into it.

\"I don't feel good about NUS being dragged in. It was never my intention to let that happen,\" Mr Alvin Tan Jye Yee, 24, said yesterday.

\"This was just my own personal thing,\" the National University of Singapore law student added.

Mr Tan, a Malaysian, will go before a university disciplinary inquiry on Oct 31. It will comprise three senior academics elected by the university senate and two student representatives elected by the students' union.

They will decide on the appropriate action to take on the undergraduate, who is on an Asean scholarship but has been on a leave of absence since August last year.

He has not received any scholarship funds since.

Last Sunday, he publicised on a local forum the link to his blog. It featured sexually explicit photos and videos of himself and his Malaysian girlfriend, Miss Vivian Lee, 23.

The blog has since been taken down after objections from both their parents.

Mr Tan continued to be defiant about his actions yesterday.

Speaking to The Straits Times' Razor TV, he said NUS has told him that he can prepare a statement ahead of the inquiry.

But this was not necessary, he said, adding: \"Whatever that I want to say is already out in the media.\"

An NUS spokesman said Mr Tan can present and explain his case at the meeting. He added that if Mr Tan does not show up for the inquiry, the board will review the case and inform him of its decision within seven days.

Mr Tan said he hopes the scholarship will not be revoked, despite the adverse publicity.

A report on the Malaysian Insider website yesterday said that the authorities across the Causeway were considering taking action against the couple for violation of obscenity laws. The punishment is imprisonment of up to three years or a fine.

Meanwhile, it is understood that the authorities here are not taking any action on the blog so far, as it is hardto determine if the obscene pictures and videos were uploaded in Singapore. If they were, Mr Tan mayhave violated the Films Act.

Mr Tan came to Singapore under the Asean scholarship in 2004 and attended Xinmin Secondary School and Raffles Junior College before he went to NUS.

He is based in Kuala Lumpur, where he has an online business. His mother helps to run a family business, while his father works in sales.

He said that since news of the sex blog broke, his mother has received numerous calls from her business associates.

Yesterday, he took a bus to Singapore from Miss Lee's house in Johor Bahru for a series of media interviews here. She was supposed to have accompanied him here but had to pull out at the last minute as her parents, upset by the publicity, refused to let her have her passport. Mr Tan said she enjoys the media attention.

\"She was scared at first and at a loss... (as to) how to explain to her family and friends. But she is comfortable with it now.\"

He was dressed in the same green singlet and colourful beanie that he wore in his Facebook profile display picture, which has since been reproduced in newspapers and websites.

\"It's personal branding... a bit like Steve Jobs and his turtleneck,\" he said.

He gave confident replies, including rating himself an 11 when asked to do so on a scale of one to 10.

\"If there is one thing that I really like about myself, it is my body.\"
