I think CCTV cameras are too expensive, if consider low budget, IP cameras are enough, you can mount on the wall, so the maid could not touch it.

Yes, it was very simple. Small camera which we placed on our wall display ledge, no drilling whatsoever. I just did search, this was the one we used but probably an older version. Note that this is a US site though.

Does that mean with broadband, you can install IP camera in your living room and study room? How would we know if it reach the communication range?
Hongqiao, the IP camera that you mentioned is able to view realtime from iphone/android? Is it clear?

- Yes, if you have broadband, and you have router at your home, you can install camera in living room, kichen, study room, etc. Usually the camera can communicate within 10 meters, so if the distance between the router and camera is within 10 meters, it is ok.
Hongqiao, the IP camera that you mentioned is able to view realtime from iphone/android? Is it clear?
-Yes, realtime video streaming. Depends on different brand and price, some have auto IR-LED illumination for night vision, so even night without any lighting, the view is also clear.
