I do not know how true is this but I heard that T score of 250 is about top 9-10%. 260 is about top 3%. Only 260 and above will be offered third lang like French, Jap and German. 250-260 will get other third lang options.

Anyone can confirm the above? Thanks!

        Friend's daughter had a T score of 265, another gf's son had 267. Offered 3rd Lang.
Frankly speaking, 250 is really good. 260 onwards would be 4A*...super duper good !!!

Top 10% will be qualified for third language & IP. Some people say above 250 is top 10%. Since drama mama said her girlfriend's DD is above 250 but not offer third language, which mean it vary from year to year, depending on cohort overall performance. Might be above 250 or 260 is top 10%.

No. Top 10% will be offered third lang choices of French, Japanese and German plus all the other languages. Those in top 30% will be offered Arabic, Malay and Chinese as 3rd lang provided they meet other criteria as well.

eerr, hi, just wanna ask, if a student repeat his/her PSLE, will the result slip write there "repeat", "second sitting or nothing, or just normal and if a student repeat, he/she will not get the Sec 1 option form together with his/her result slip? And can they appeal for Sec 1 Normal Technical depending on their result?

saw at the bookstore that there are many different types of chinese textbooks: Higher Chinese, Chinese ‘B’, Chinese (Express), Chinese (special).

                Does anyone know the difference?

                TIA!

Thanks to all that reverted to my query.

Yes, I personally feel that 250 is already a good score. I think most parents just want their children to put in the effort and do their best. My concern is that the children set themselves targets which may be a little too stretched or unrealistic. They just base it on cut off points for certain schools or IP courses, without realising what it means.

I used this % method to temper expectations of my own dd when she was seating for GEP round 2 at P3. Told her that she was already amongst the top 10% of the "dragon" cohort to be in round 2. So, she was not too disappointed when she did not qualify for GEP.

Am hoping to use this same method to mentally prepare her before the PSLE results are out.

Am also curious to see how much of "value add" she has gained from then till now … ie top 10% of cohort in P3 … ??% of cohort at end P6. Crude way … not meant to be an accurate scientific measurement … but a general gut feel … 🙂

                  Thanks everyone.

if my son can score 250, that is a BIG achievement.
but i definitely agree with you that all we parents want is for kids to do their very best...and be realistic with what their kids can reach. as parents, we know best what our kids can and cannot do.

If my DS can score 250, I think I struck toto already! I would think he would need around 2A* and 2A to get such a score. That’s not easy!
