Personal felt he’s a very nice and easy going person, very approachable.

i was used to stricter and more eloquent ACS primary, secondary and JC principals…

Actually, other than the principal being a little long-winded, I was pleased he had a sense of humour and seemed approachable and humble. For primary schools, it is impt that the principal seems approachable as the boys are still young...discipline is one thing, but we don't want the boys being too fearful of the principal...anyhow, to each his own...but i think the activities planned for the boys during the orientation were too boring/mild. My son said all they did was watch a movie and draw, other than a short tour ard campus.

1. generally how do the GEP boys fair for PSLE? What is the T-Score range?
2. I want my DS to try out HCL, how is HCL in ACS GEP?
3. Do all IP program, even in ACSI, need HCL? -

Not sure about the PSLE range for ACS. Saw a separate post over 30 students above 260 but not sure if this is accurate.
My son is doing HCL in ACS GEP. He said he’ll continue with HCL next year. I think whether the child does well enough really depends on our expectations. If we expect too much it may actually kill the child’s interest. He averages mid to high 70’s which is good enough for us.
Not all his classmates do HMT. In fact he has a classmate who is exempted from MT.
ACSI IB program does not require boys to take HCL. Those who opt for CL take O level CL at Sec 4, then go on to take IB Chinese B. -

How does your boy find the GEP ? Does he enjoy it? Anything for new parents to look out for? At the briefing, it was mentioned that we need to give lots of parental emotional (probably mental) support to help our kids adjust to the different style of learning.
I know there is a separate link in this forum where many parents contribute but just want to hear it from a current ACS(P) student and not from some other schools -
Yes he is in P4 this year. Not all do HMT in his class.
The start of the school year is always stressful for the child - for some it’s a new school and environment, new curriculum, new style of learning, new friends to make… Mine took a month or 2 to adjust, but eventually no more complaints. As for support, it’s not that much more than for mainstream. Boys are taught to be independent, eg filing, schedules, etc. Boys will be boys, but the best way for them to learn is not to do so much for them, let them learn from their mistakes and mature. Most are fine.
My son has MT tuition this year. There’s not that much more homework than his P3 years. Stays back twice a week for classes till 3-3.30. Still have time for him to ‘smell the flowers’… -

son in P4 GEP now, he enjoys his time this year. Transferred from another school. Settled in quite quickly. He does feel that pals wise, he can communicate better with the GEP students than previous classmates.
Work, he is doing normal MT. (Chinese) The GEP MT is more difficult than mainstream MT. Eg, for mainstream, they only need to be able to know how to write those wo hui xie words, but for GEP MT, they need to be able to write quite a fair bit of those wo hui ren characters too. Son struggled quite a fair bit with Chinese actually.
Other than that, English, it is P5 standard English. Exam, non MCQ grammar, compre passages are long. Son struggles with languages a fair bit.
Math and Science, he enjoyed Science especially. Math, struggled a bit initially. But improved by end of P4.
By and large, he enjoyed GEP in ACS
But my personal feedback, I wish more can be done for English grammar though. The boys seem to be left on their own
