Kiasoolaopa, sounds like your family had fun. I heard the souvenirs in the zoo are cheaper compared to SG?

Any recommendation on what to eat/do when you reach the top of maokong?
      Did you try Baby Boss?

Do share more tips and nuggets of info for our reference 🙂
      Hi there,
      Went there 6D F&E.
weather quite good except 1st night rain in keelung. the miakou night mkt in keelung so far is the best food i had amoung all the night mkt.
if no rain t-shirt with winbreaker already enough. i didn't wear any sweater at all. but according to their forcast this weekend may be abit cooler.
didn't check the souvenirs in the zoo so can't comment. but believe should be cheaper than our zoo. on top of maokong there is many tea house up there and you can walk around with many 5-30 min trail for you to explor.
and the view up there can see taipei 101.if i know will not paying 450NT per pax to go up 101. save the monies to eat more food at night mkt :stupid:
not so sure abt Baby Boss cos my children already 15yr old 🆒
for those who staying at XMD no need to hire taxi cos is so near to the taipei bus station and there is free shuttle bus to drop you at 4 different exit point at XMD. so even when going to airport you just need to inform them and wait at the 4 drop-off point.
my boy bought 4 pair of Converse shoe in XMD/Shilin mkt :slapshead:
was told by my cabby that best taiyoung biscuit only produce at taichung so never try to get in taipei. the only pineapple tart/cake i bought was at keelung Lee Hwu cake shop near miakou night mkt. the best so far i had try.
one pices selling at 40NT not cheap but really good :nosebleed:
in taipei food not really cheap. esp. sea food. my cabby brought us to a less crowded shop for sea food lunch total damage abt 1200NT

        Hi Kiasoolaopa,

Is the converse shoe in XMD cheap? My son likes converse shoe too. If it is cheaper than S’pore, I will like to grab a pair for him too. Anyway, did your son enjoy his trip in Taiwan bcos my son, also 15 yrs old, said Taiwan seem quite boring to him, and we are travelling there next wk.

Wow kiasulaupa, sounds like a fruitful trip. However my kids are too young for converse, hehe. I am thinking of getting the gang3 ji4 pineapple tarts that a colleague bought back. Tasted nice, though I must say I’ve not tried other brands before.

                    KiasooLaupa:

the maokong cable car inside the zoo(2nd stop) also MUST take. it take you to top of the mountain=990m.you can choose to take the see-thru type below your foot.damn soick! price also less than 60NT :rahrah:
                    hello,

I like to understand is it we must pay to go into the zoo before we can take the cable car from the 2nd stop. We like to go to the zoo and also take the cable car but I thou these 2 places are separate. I also understand we can take a NT5 tram or some kind of transport in the zoo to reach the higher point. So from this higher point, we can travel down slope instead of walking up around the zoo.

                    tHaNks!

the cable car was under maintanence when i was there 2yrs ago so i cant comment. but we took the tram. you are right, the tram will take you to the highest point and you walk down from there. bring raincoats for the kids and make sure they are adequately covered. it’s rainy during this period of time and there’s lots of open spaces there, so it will be rather cold. my kids wore their raincoats and were happy to walk around despite the slight rain. love their zoo, enjoy!
