We use eye-relax and inverter-lamps to slow down myopia. Whole family wears glasses. can't be helped. it's genetic. eye-relax can also be used to slow down the progress of long-sight aka lao hua yan.

mathsparks, I'm almost technically blind and DH wears glasses as well. Thankfully, kids are still okay. Am getting either the inverter lamp or the polarized one at the bookfest later today (good offer )...may I know where to get eye-relax and what does it do to slow down progress of lao hua yan (that's more for me. ..thanks!)

I've given some feedback on eye relax elsewhere on the forum, and here also:

just to relate, at the start of my hol, i could read the subway map, there're at least 10 lines, with stations all in fineprint printed on a page in the tourist guide (size of half an A4 page). Towards the end of my trip, I couldn't focus much, and the stations names all turn up fuzzy. coz i din pack my machine along. :lol:

but nothing to it, just a few continuous nights of eye relax, i'm as good as new again. but be prepared to invest at least 11 mins (mine's earlier model) and daily for a start, thereafter you can space out the sessions.

got mine in guardian, some years back.

FYI, they are selling the old model (I think it is close to 500). slight difference between old and new model but price wise is about 200 difference. Up to individual which is preferred.

DUDU, swissflex is the brand of the glasses. Lighted-weighted and very flexible. Was told it is a good brand for young children.


I spoken to Dr Ling from SNEC and she said that my gal needs to wear probably until 6 years old. Long sightedness may be corrected as well. I am warned she may be myopic if we are not careful...

swissflex uses something like lego parts where you can choose and customise the colors for the frame, nose piece etc.

But, a word of caution to those thinking of getting it. I got my old glasses replaced with a swissflex at a cost of $560. :!: very expensive, but I was assured that it's lightweight. It is lightweight indeed, there's no pressure on the nose, but now the weight has shifted to my ears. *Ouch* , I can't wear it for long, and I've regretted my purchase. Still going back to the optician to adjust the frame...and still wearing my lenses for long periods of time.

ok. but i no need to upgrade yet till it breaks down. there're sceptics out there, but since it works for me, i've been spreading the word. too bad i don get any commission from the company for recommending..and the amazing thing is that, son's myopia has stabilised at 500+ both eyes..and i don need progressive lenses.

I'm so confused by the mixed reviews I get about eye-relax, sigh. I will look out for a second hand model to try. We just went to make the first pair of glass for my son today. I very sim thia, but with me and hubby wearing glasses, he didn't have much of a chance. PLUS, he has such terrible reading habits. Makes me so :x :x :x .

How come ah, tell him don't read lying down, in dim light etc etc 1000x a day but I walk away for 1 min only, the little fella will be slumped in the original position. Or read until the room becomes dim but never turn on the lights *slap forehead*. I threatened to take away his books , which worked for awhile, and then ... :stupid:

Think I'm going to be strict about designated reading areas at home again. Maybe my fault since I became lax, sigh.

It is quite often for me to replace for them 3 or 4 in a yr bec it gets broken.

What brand or type is good? not so ex one pls. I want cheap and good…

Hi there, I am not too sure how old is your child. To change the glasses 3 or 4 times over a year, the frequency seems high. I think you may like to talk to your child on how to take care of his/her glasses. Perhaps, you need to look into glasses specifically that suits him/her more. My daugther has prescribed a new pair of glasses lately and it costs $98 - plastic half frame with designs. It stated manufactured in Japan.
