My son got 2A* & 2A and T score is 235. Based on my calculation, the T score should be around 245. Can some expert estimate the parameter to calculate this year T score?

Thank you
My son’s friend has also 2a* and 2a but got 251.Perhaps is low A and a*
My estimated calculation was based on low A* & low A (2x91 + 2x75)x3/4. I expected some deviation. However, in my son’s case, the deviation is too big
Know someone with 4A at 230. Do you mind sharing which are the 2 subjects with A*.
Usually Maths and MT will pull up the T score. If your son’s is very strong in Maths and MT and gets A* his T score will be higher compared to another child who is strong in English and Science but weak in Maths and MT. This is my personal observation. Of course it is possible for your son to get lower T score than his friend because your son’s friend may have scored high A* and A while your son’s are low A* and A. Although the grade is same (which is given within a range say 85 to 100 will get A* though in actual PSLE, one can get A* if the range is fixed for example at 75 to 100 if the paper is too tough ie. bell curve will come into play), the actual marks scored is different.

happy to be mum:
Only272:

Guys, I am extremely disappointed with my daughter's results. She only got 272 marks this year! I heard that a large number of people got 280 and above. I am so sad right now. What can you do with 272? Sigh. I'm not trying to make other people with terrible scores like say, 260 feel sad, but this is really annoying. Especially since the average score in singapore is like what, 275? Sigh.

only272

you are greedy! 272 is already above average! Your daughter can choose alot of schools already! what do you expect? a perfect 300?! Can you score 272?

it is parents like you that is causing the stress in the education system!

Only 272, u should be feeling happy instead of super sad..... How many kids can actually get above 270..... this is really unncessary stress for ur kid..... u are killing his or her motivation to learn.....

Hi everyone,

I thought my tears have dried by now...but reading all your posts made me cry again, bcos I can sense your sincerity.
It is so hard to take...but I never blamed my son one single bit.
He has worked very very hard.
Thank you.
Hug! PSLE is just a small parts of our kids life.

Last time, My 2nd sister get the lowest psle t-score compared to my 3rd sister and me. Now, she has a 2nd class honour degree from NTU. my 3rd sis is a diploma holder and I just have olevel.

So PSLE score don't mean anything!

Hi Janet,

I shared the same feeling as you.
My son took PSLE last year. Both of us were looking at 245 score so that he can go to a school which is just walking distance from my home. We both worked hard together since June till PSLE. Toil together mother and son. Through tough times when there were so many tough maths qns. through happy times when we laughed it out. We had high hopes... V V high hopes. When he first saw his results slip, he shook his head. When he showed me, I had the same feeling as what you felt now. I really could not take the results-218. It hit me hard.... Really really need some time to compose myself...

Now... my son is in sec1... happy boy. but looking back, i think the time i spent with him together(taking so many days of leave just to coach, teach, accompany him, cook his fav food, etc.), those were the times as parent, I went through the first major milestone of my son's life with him. Looking back now, I am still v happy. Though I still feel that little bit of pain... What I told him now is... 1) this is but your first milestone in life.... there is a 2nd... that is 'O' levels... Told him he had to work hard for himself... boys need to fall in order to climb higher mountains...2) as parent-after going through my eldest son's first psle, i really really realise this...our role is not to let our kids fulfill our dreams... our role is to maximise his potential.
:snuggles:
hope by sharing this with you, it helps. next year this time, psle will be history for him. as him to cast a good 'o' levels history for himself. :rahrah: look forward to the next milestone of his life.
33mama, Well said! :goodpost:

Hi,

I need some advice. DS got 250+1.
Would this be enough for an IP programme? Any school to recommend?

It seems 250+1 is good enough for many good schools e.g. SJI, VS, CHS, ACS(I) under the O-level track, but falls short of the cut-off point for IP programme A-Level track. So near, yet so far........

Any help is very much appreciated. Thanks.

From a concerned dad.
perhaps u can try first choice IP programme of a secondary school then the second choice is the O level programme of the same secondary school, in this way if the child does not get the IP programme, the child can still go to the same dual programme secondary school and try again at the end of sec 2 for admission into sec 3 IP.

Hope some parent will find it useful. I agree it is best to do it under the radar so as not to give the child false hopes. They don’t need to be crushed twice.
