      Places of interest

      2) Tsimshatshui (TST)
Hanoi Street ้พ™่ฎฐ: Wantons like ping pongs - full of prawns.

What a co-incidence. We tried their wanton noodles soup recently - simply noodles, 4 wantons and some chopped spring onions. Fully agreed with your description of their wantons. Very tasty and cheap - less than S$3.50. Though our hotel is very near to this shop, we did not discover their noodles until the morning before checking out.

I am a bit  to say but we have the wanton soup (without noodles) for supper nearly every night we were there. I hope the shop will stay cos the aunties running the place are quite elderly. Some of my die-hard-fans friends buy frozens wanton back from the shop just before departure. The aunties will pack in white styrofoam boxes for you. Errr...easier to communicate with them if you can speak Cantonese. One evening, my dh went on his own and spoke English :stupid: ...the aunty got the policeman to help in translation :!:

:celebrate: I miss wantons !!! Real wantons...not the limpy stuff we get here !

              Aiyoh cafelatte,

You bring back my romance memories in HK after looking at all those photos you have posted.

But I am happy as I can reminisce the past

There is a saying, if you like a place, never go back there more than twice or the feeling will be different.

              I LOVE HONGKONG A LOT.

But beware, if you wear bermudas and slippers, you will appear under-dressed.

I love the peak, it is very beautiful. Be sure to visit the peak if you are in Hongkong.

Hongkong has many 24 hours entertainment places.
If you go without the children, there will be many places to explore the country.

You can also take a 1 day trip to Shenzhen. However, be wary as the security there is not very safe.

Do make a trip to Macau, Tai yu san, Nan ma tao....
Also, the shopping in HK is simply FANTASTIC!

I believe those who will be going to HK will love HK as much as I do ๐Ÿ˜‰

For shopping, don't go to the so-called factory outlet in citygate tung cheung unless you are planning to be there anyway. The prices are not that cheap. The place is not like US factory outlets but rather a big shopping mall like our Suntec or Vivocity.

Food wise - taste is personal lah...not sure you all will find the makan good also but can try if you are in the vicinity. Don't ๐Ÿ˜› me if you purposely go all the way there but don't like the food. ๐Ÿ˜ž ๐Ÿ˜‰

                  Hi

My family is planning to have a trip to Hong Kong during Chinese New Year period.

                  Can anyone pls advise:

                  1. during Chinese New Year, will the streets in Hong Kong be as quiet as Singapore ?

                  2. will the shopping mall be closed like for the first two days of the CNY?

We have only got a few days for the trip so canโ€™t go far away destination.

                  Thanks in advance.

Hi, I am planning for a trip to Hong Kong Disney and Ocean Park. I have 3 kids, 2, 4 and 6 yrs old. Any advise if I should book ticket and accommodation and travel free and easy or by tour package. I am looking for a relax and yet budgeted tour. ๐Ÿ™‚

                        Hi bezzlay,

Better to do F&E since you have young kids travelling along. The reasons being that F&E allows you more flexibility with where you want to go and the duration. With young ones, you can bring them back to rest when they are tired, cranky. In a packaged tour, you have to follow the timetable and itinerary so you cannot just suka suka change plans. And if your kids start crying, the rest of the group may give you dirty looks.

Foodwise, you can decide what you feed the kids and not follow the groupโ€™s planning (as adult food sometimes not too kid friendly).

Finally, those tour guides always bring you to places to buy stuff (to earn commission mah) and your kids might be bored.

With a packaged tour, you typically spend more time waiting for people to appear at the meeting place and travelling than to really enjoy the place.

                        JMHO.
