May I know how many classes are doing SBGE, 4? I understand those coming in via S1, even if you are Gep at Pri, you qualify only base on T-score. those via DSA via academic gets in automatically. Is this right?

Is it compulsory to go SBGE class if you qualify. I prefer dd to do normal class but one RG girl told me those classes start from 269. I don’t wish dd to have too stressful life there. Just want her to have a well-balance life with as much rest as possible and be happy. I believe with that success will come naturally.

All the classes at RGS are doing SBGE. Last yr, there were 4 classes made up of GEP students and those with PSLE scores above 269 . GEP students entering the school via PSLE results will be put into the different classes based on the PSLE score (unlike geppers entering by dsa). However, they will be moved into these 4 classes in the next few days.

Hello everyone! I got 266 in PSLE. Do you think I'll be posted to RGS? It has been my dream school since forever.

Yes you will most probably get in πŸ™‚ the COP this year probably won't be as high:)

Hi πŸ™‚ I'm not too sure what you mean, because as far as I know, the whole of RGS does SBGE, just that 5 classes (109-113) are those where everyone's PSLE score above 269, or GEP in primary school will be in those 5 classes. The rest will be in classes 101-108, and in those classes there are no sorting according to T-scores, and are random instead πŸ™‚ those who DSA-ed and got 269 and above will be put into classes 109-113 also. The rest, there will be classes according to the type of DSA πŸ™‚

Also, don't worry about the stress part, it is probably normal to face some stress along the way in her schooling life in RG πŸ™‚ so far, I am year 1 going to year 2 next year, and I haven't felt any real stress so far πŸ˜›

              Hi,

I would like to find out how RGS conducts its Science and Humanities (History & Geography) curriculum. Is it on a modular basis (i.e. 1 term Physic, next term Chemistry etc and final exam on all 3 Sciences)
              Aprpeciate any feedback.

              Thanks
Hi! πŸ™‚ for humanities, we do all 3 humans subject all at once πŸ™‚ however for science, it is based on a modular basis; 1 semester per science, and 1 will be done in year 2 sem 1. Year 2 sem 2 will then be integrated science πŸ™‚

Hi, just to let you know, the curriculum for SBGE and non SBGE is the same, so no matter what class you end up in, you do the same assessments as everybody else. It doesn't mean that SBGE gets any special treatment or all of them do better.

I feel sorry to say this but i believe there will be a time she is going to be stressed anyway, with everybody else...

:congrats: on making into RG btw πŸ™‚

Thank you everyone. Can I ask you all something? In my hardcopy sec 1 posting form,I see category 1 with Malay and Chinese, category 2 with Arabic and bahasa Indonesia and category 3 with French and German. So where is Japanese?

Japanese should be in the same category as French and German.

I think Japanese is not offered to everyone. I think students being offered chinese in cat 1 are not offered japanese. Can anyone confirm if it is offered to students who don't take chinese as their MT?

If you are good in languages, you should find it manageable
