      Ran1977:
      Imami:

Dryer is a good to have. ESP since these days, seems like the rainy season is here.

I remembered when my child was just two months old, it rained for one whole week (during the day time) and all my baby's clothes had to be dried by hair dryer! Luckily,an infant's wardrobe comprises of tiny pieces....

Just that sometimes a dryer can rack up your bills..
I bought one when I moved house and it increased my bill to about 30% more...even though I used it just 1x a week:(

I use my dryer once in a while but I dont see any jump in my utility bills
      leh.

If you have moved to a bigger house, chances are the jump in utility consumption is due other reasons. For me, when we moved to a bigger unit, our utility bill jumped from about $30 to $70. After some observation, we believe the jump should be due to more lighting, a water heater tank, a bigger tv, a bigger fridge and more fans.

I have been using Electrolux dryer n washer for many years. Quite reliable. I think my dryer does not contribute as much to utilities bills compared to aircon 🙂 So "pei fu" those who can cope without a maid…being maidless is something I can dream of as a working mum with 2 young kids, really not feasible for me. Now I hardly do any chores at home and thus, able to spend my time on my kids… I would not be able to do so without a maid.

To be honest, my electricity bills also went up because of the dryer. So now I use sun but raining abit longer to dry. Must find a brand that can save on energy bills. My current out of order Borsch very high energy consumption.

i use my dryer partially. Mine is a washer cum dryer, after my laundry is washed, i let it proceed to dryer mode for 30-45 min (depending on weather and load).

When the laundry is all heated up, I’ll hang is up. The clothes by then are all steamed up, once hung, will be dried within a day. For those that needed to be ironed, i can even iron them directly.

Not sure which brands are the energy efficient ones but I really like my electrolux pair - washer and dryer. Not too expensive too.

My place enjoys a fair amount of sunshine. Unless it is raining for consequetive days, I don't usually need the dryer. Each month, I probably use it for a couple of hours, mainly to dry the bedsheets and my child's uniforms.
