MOE to stop publishing names of top students?

...says the faculties (in Singapore) who never admit any student with 3B.
Nobody cares about non-GEP/GEP background by the time one is in college.cherryc:
... in law school or medicine faculty , you can't really differentiate who are from GEP according to my friends who are top lawyers, doctors or NUS lecturers in medicine faculty (MOE can give us more info on this) .
I don't have statistics to back me up, but I spent years, on and off, at one of these faculties and I interacted with a great number of undergraduates. Quite simply, the issue never arose. If you were accepted into these faculties, intellect is most assuredly not the determining factor!
The reason why non-GEP/GEP background never crop up is that it is obsolete information by the time they are in the faculties. -

I am quoting an example (The young man with 4 distinctions n many other attributes ) that I know. He is from middle income without tuition n with all the non-academics activities which r all done in school. No external helps at all.
But why must have 4 Distinctions? 3B very low meh? Passing grade is E, you know? How not to be stressed?Melodies:
Already happened, don't need to wonder, PSC does measure the non-academic attributes. I have seen students with 4 Distinctions with outstanding non-academic attributes were awarded psc scholarship over those with much more distinctions . Cannot be too low until 3B la. 4 distinctions r already very common in top schools.
And how to get good results in non-academic things like sports, arts etc when the playing field is not even because the elites can afford professional coaching and lessons for their kids?
It's still possible to achieve yesteryear n now but I am not sure if it is still possible tomorrow. -

Honestly, I don't see what has changed so much with our educational system that it is no longer possible.
My experience is that some kids without having prior exposure externally may not be selected in all those popular CC A in pri school. Those who has prior exposure will have advantages over them. This case is getting more common nowsaday la. Some parents may want to share more......Melodies:

I know as much as the majority knows by piecing together publicly available information, and looking at the response from authorities and hearing the experiences of people around me. Most parents are too busy coaching their kids, keep their jobs or buying their next property, so they did't bother whats happening around them. Things are changing very fast and a lot of us are sometimes caught off-guard if we didn't pay attention. δΈθ§ζ£ΊζδΈζζ³ͺεγ
You know something the \"majority\" doesn't know? Or is this purely your speculation?sinoboy:

Side track a bit. Just for info for all, for uni entry, there exists a little scheme somewhat similar to the DSA. Very selective though

Thanks for the information.
But its not easy to repeat as T-score of 67 will get into Normal Tech. which is about 25 marks raw score for each subject.
Based on the extracted info on moe site with regards to plse 2012 result, the kids are allow to repeat psle -BluryMom:
Can someone enlighten me, is it true that no repeat is allowed by MOE no matter how badly a child performs in primary school?
Since we know that foreign students are allowed to start 1 or even 2 levels lower when joining our primary schools mid-way. How about returning Singaporean, are they given this option too? If so, anyone knows how many of returning Singaporean take up the chance to gain the \"over-age\" advantage?
\" Performance of 2012 Primary 6 Cohort
A total of 48,333 Primary 6 students sat for the PSLE this year. Among these students, 47,163 students (or 97.6%) are assessed as suitable to proceed to secondary school. In terms of course eligibility, 63.1% are eligible for the Express course, 23.1% for the Normal (Academic) and 11.4% for the Normal (Technical) course.
There are 1,170 students (or 2.4%) who are assessed to be not yet ready for secondary school. Of these, students who have attempted PSLE once and are not overage may, based on the recommendations of their primary school principals, apply to Assumption Pathway School (APS) or NorthLight School (NLS), or spend another year in Primary 6 to consolidate their learning. The remaining students who are unsuccessful after repeated attempts at the PSLE or are overage will be offered a place in APS or NLS.\"
