We had spotted the bulge in ds2 last yr n the gp had advised wait n c as it wasn’t v obvious most of the time then.

However, tonight another gp spotted it while examining him for v frequent urination, n recommended surgery asap.
He mentioned that fertility might b affected if intestine heated up the testes.
Now I m really at a loss, as we hv been trying to avoid GA for our kids all this while.
      Ds2 will b 5yo this yr.
Appreciate if any parent could share his/ her view, advice n experience here or thru PM.
      Any recommended surgeon?
      Thanks!

        Hi,

DS also had right hernia surgery done when he was almost 4 years old.

We were lucky his CC teacher noticed he didn’t looked quite right at the testes so advised us to go see Doc.

We went to his regular Pead, Kidslink at JE and was referred to go see another Doc at Mt E. for the operation.

From what we understood from the Doc, if we delay the op, the hole may eventually widen and the small intentines could drop in and then it’ll be a major op!

It was a minor op and he was under full GA, the wound healed nicely and a week later review and everything’s fine so far. DS is not 7 years old!

DS didn’t even feel any pain after waking up. Only the legs were abit soft cos of the GA effect. After an hour, he was running around!

Nephew went for a similiar op too, and he was only 2 years old…

          Hi Troubled,

Glad to hear that the post surgery is not too tough, as I’m wondering how to keep DS2 inactive for a period of time.
Do u still hv the surgeon’s contact? Can PM me?
          Thanks!

            Hi Vevey,

            PM you already.

Post surgery wasn’t too tough, just be abit careful not to bump onto wound directly.

            There wasn’t any scare…:-)

Oh, frequent urination is an unrelated problem. I had him tested in case of urinary tract infection as he is doing this for past2 wks. Turns out ok, so could b a phase or his foreskin is getting in the way. Just that the gp was alarmed when he saw the bulge while examining him. Ds had been playing in the playground when waiting for his turn so the bulge was v obvious.

I need a hernia repair surgeon. Would be grateful if anyone can recommend one.

Surgery required for my 21 years old nephew. Actually he is very fit and somehow just kena this hernia out from nowhere…

As the surgery seems to be very close to the reproductive organs, am concern that whether it will affect his sexual life later if put under the knife of a sotong doctor…

My son went to Dr C K Sim at mt A.
Not sure if he operates on adults though.
