Thanks for your replies, seniors. I’ll talk to my parents about getting a hand phone then. Another question- I’m thinking about getting MacBook Pro( the one without Retina Display) Is it popular in RGS?

Hi there, i like to ask during class how do you connect the Macbooks to the school network, is it via LAN connection or WIFi?

You connect to the school Wi-Fi. However after connecting to the Wi-Fi you'll need a Network Access Client (it's called Odyssey) that will be pre-installed into your Mac if you buy your Mac from Sapura (to be able to connect to the school network). If you don't, then you'll have to pay extra bucks for it to get installed if I'm not wrong.
There will be a really detailed briefing on how to configure everything and the ICT department/Sapura technician can also be approached if there are any problems.

@Kaeshion, there is no need to pay extra for it to get installed; you just have to go to inet to get the link once the girl has gotten her inet username and password 🙂 For me, I bought my macbook air from outside, and it was selling at $1688 for the 13inch model, same as school model, but i don't know why, Sapura is selling it for $19xx 😮 that was the reason why I was turned off from buying from Sapura. Many say it is because there is a technician all the time, but you can get that by buying the AppleCare Plan with costs $2xx, so it is still cheaper than buying from Sapura 🙂 All programs that Sapura helps to download can be downloaded via the links at iNet 🙂

No they are not; http://www.rgs.edu.sg/cca/ep_cca.htm <- Here is all the info about the CCAs in RGS. Merit CCAs are those that you can only take as a second CCA, but it is required and compulsory to be taking a core CCA. 🙂

Yes they are, generally, I still see that more people are getting MacBook Pro, but it really depends on your personal choice. For me, I got a MacBook Pro initially at the start of the year, and after I knew my CCA choice, a PA CCA, I had to carry my heavy instrument everywhere to take bus and MRT home and all that, so it was really inconvenient to be carrying a 2.x kg load everywhere 😮 so then, I had to sell my MacPro and get a MacAir, which I can easily dump into my bag and carry it around effortlessly. Although 700g might not seem like a big difference in weight when you are not carrying it long-term, after a few months with the MacAir/MacPro you will then know whether you have made the right choice based on your preference 🙂

Sorry, just to confirm - so the girls will wear PE shirt and culottes on the first day instead of uniform to school?

Also, can we get a 11\" Mac Air coz that's the lightest?

                Thanks!

Yes PE shirt and culottes 🙂

Hmm I don't need you can. It's recommended that you at least get the 13 inch one, I don't think I have seen any of my batchmates carrying a 11 inch one around (actually one, if I recall, but she owns a 13 inch MacBook Pro as well), and definitely not 15 inch.
The weight difference is only about 25g or so for 13 inch and 11 inch and the Air itself is already very light 😮

Haha Kaeshion, actually 11 inch the weight is only slightly over 1kg >< sorry I keep correcting you, just wanna make sure correct info is given to those who need it. And yes, an 11 inch MacBook Air is allowed, though 13 inch is recommended. I have a few classmates who are using 11 inch MacBook Air, so it is alright. And yes they wear PE shirt and culottes to school 🙂 You can compare MacBook models at this page -> http://store.apple.com/sg/compare/mac?page=mac 🙂 Hope I helped 🙂

The page you linked to says:
RGS offers 52 CCAs out of which 35 are Core CCAs and 17 are Merit CCAs.
But it doesn't indicate which are the Core CCAs and which are the Merit CCAs.

Hi seniors, during the first day of school, do we need to lug along our school books and for the orientation t-shirt, are the sizes similar to that of the school pe tshirt?
