I think not many ppl aware of TJC offering IP next year. And not many dare to be the first batch of new ip program

TJC is more established espcially since already have an IP programme for Sec 3 students and have a proven track record for JC. Much better than unknowns like SCGS, SNGS and CHS where they have no IP experience at all and will go on to form a brand new JC which will have many teething problems. Ironically COP for these 3 schools is higher than TJC. I believe got to do more with location as TJC is not as centrally located as the other 3.

Actually if you look at it, the new JC will have students feeding in from 3 top schools in singapore ( CHS, St Nicks, SCGS). It will no doubt be one of the top JCs that will be highly sought after as the cohorts' quality is at least equal or better than that for Cedar/Victoria which feeds into VJC.

Knowing how competitive getting into top JCs nowadays, getting into the IP program for CHS, St Nicks, SCGS gurantees the students into a JC, that no doubt will establish itself as one of the top in Singapore.

My ds is now appealing to Victoria... U must be wondering why? Becos he say TJC the year 1 too many girls. It is like 70% girls and coming from a boys school, he is not comfortable with that.

qms, NUSH doesn't participate in the MOE S1 posting exercise. They run their own admission exercise as kwcllf said, meaning students need to submit application to NUSH directly (not through S1 6 choices). There is still COP based on the students that were admitted into NUSH successully. If I remember correctly, NUSH 2011 cop was 261.

You can read more details here :

Thank you very much for your clarification! Was a bit confused why there was COP last year when the school wasn't in the MOE S1 posting exercise.

My ds didn't make it to his dream school which is a boy school. He was posted to a school which I heard has more girls than boys. However, I didn't even dare to tell him but would like him to experience it himself. Perhaps it's not that bad as more chances will be even to boys instead. And the boys will then have a stronger bonding. Hope it will turn out well.

This is a common scenario for the co-ed IP schools - DHS & RVHS are all ~65% girls, NJC is >80% girls. So, not surprised that TJC is having 70% girls. Overall, from past year's statistics, girls perform better in PSLE, and in fact, they drive up the COP of these co-ed IP schools.
