is there anywhere we can try to get the statistics of how many singaporeans at each stage ??

MOE did not display to public at each stage from Phase 1 to Phase 3 P1 Registration -
how many children are Singaporean citizenship, or how many are PR kids enrolled into each primary school ?
(although public would like to know very much)

the info you're interested in -
is only available at the respective primary school's computer database, or in MOE centralized computer system. Authorized personnel have access to it. But not disclosed to public.

        hi,

my husband is an ex-student from KH but only from P1 to P4 and he change to Mountbatten Pri.
Can we still register under KH under 2A?

yes provided with his report book

it is best to call up KH school -
confirm if can register for P1 based on past report card, or what else is needed (if any).

no la, i dont exect my kid to be in the top 25%. i just want her to learn the teaching from school without any obstacles. so thought it’s better to prepare her. she has learnt addition and subtraction within 20s in her K1 and this term she should start doing models.

Think will be fine. Some schools, models are covered in P2.

most K2 kindergarten do not teach modeling in Maths, because

              i) they don't have enough time to cover this topic.
ii) modeling is actually defined within MOE P2 Maths syllabus, not P1.

but if your child's kindergarten do teach K2 modeling, then is very good.
then, your child is more than prepared to tackle P1 Maths ! 🙂

parents can call up Maths HOD from the school you intend to enrol your child in -
find out if the school going to teach modelling in P1 Term 3 / 4, or in P2.
different school, different plan(s), different pace.

if the Maths HOD reply is modeling start in P1 Term 3 / 4 (because some primary schools a bit kiasu) -
then you need to buck up your child's Maths this year. (still got 1 whole year of time)
if child's Maths foundation on + - is weak, tackling modeling questions may be a bit of problem. At the same time, it is also good to expose your child to simple multiplication - ie. master the 3 basic easier ones first like x2, x5, x10 in this sequence first, before moving onto x3, x4, etc slowly.

but if the Maths HOD reply is P2 2015 then start modeling, in that case don't worry. Children will pick up concepts, as they go along.

btw, you can buy the model ruler from Popular bookshop, below $2.
with this template - help yr child easier to draw those model boxes.
Because i saw some P1 kids (poor thing) - they use free hand to draw the small little rectangles to represent model boxes. This is v time consuming! They spent more time trying to draw these boxes nicely, than trying to answer the question. (wrong technique)

the school she is with now is the more kiasu type too. ha ha

and the most amzing thing is there is one boy from her class actually started multiplication last year (K1)! gosh, i bet he will be very bored when he goes P1 Math class… 😜

Once a child understand addition and is well-versed in the concept, it’s very natural to move on to multiplication becos it’s abt adding an equal amt by groups. Similar with division. Once familiar with subtraction, can move on to division becos it’s like subtraction of fixed amt in groups heehee

My son is due for registration for P1 later this year… very nervous.

Checked out the latest P1 registration table by Chef and am quite worried.
Was planning to just go for Yu Neng (P2C) since i have an address within 1km but saw that even <1km has balloting and risk is quite high at ‘0.96’…

Alternative, to enrol him into Gongshang (P2A) - dad is old boy but this is in Tampines and DS has to travel. I was reminded by a colleague to choose a school as close by as possible to avoid any exhaustion for child.

If you were me, would you still go for Yu Neng?
I am worried if i ballot and Yu Neng is a failed chance, then i wasted chance at GS.
                    Any advice?

                    Much thanks in advance.

Sorry, also to check if there is any chance of an even more updated table for 2011 and 2012 in-take situations?

                      Many thanks.

You can apply to GS first. Once phase 2c comes along, decide then whether its worth to give up your place at GS to apply for Yu neng. In mean time, find out bus routes to and fro GS and how long it takes.
