honestly, i am not pushing for psle...i have just shifted focus on her.
saw the cl spelling/dictation list and kinda freaked out...don't know how she will cope with 4 subjects. her school cl teacher just emailed me, said my girl's chinese is weak.

I bought some science guide books (but he not very keen, probably spoilt by the horrible series because those are more fun to read). Just hoping he won’t be needing science tuition until very much later.

DS1 has been on language enrichment since young. I always felt it necessary to ensure his languages are ok. but even now, his chinese quite cannot make it. haiz… I do agree with the idea, building up foundation is very impt in lower Pri. I cannot imagine scrambling to do that in P5/6, will probably get heart attack (and multiple ones at that).

Wah... Very scary leh.. 3 more years to go and now there is a thread dedicated to IT.

no choice...even if not planning for psle, also need to strengthen foundation.

Thank you janet_lee88 for starting this thread.
My DS in P3 this yr too.... I agree that strengthening the foundation is impt!

Yay, Janet! You finally created the thread. 🙂 Thanks!

Of all the subjects, Science is the one that worries me, because I know nothing of the scope or expectations from schools. I want ways to make it more interesting for my dd, not another boring subject to be memorized out of textbooks.

              1. Which guide books have the parents of older kids recommended?
My friend (with dd in P4 now) suggested 'Everything You Need To Know'.

              2. Dd's teacher has started with Diversity this week.
              a. Any library books I can borrow to read with dd that complements this topic?
              b. Do any of the Horrible Science books provide more details on this topic, or other P3 Science topics?

Started my daughter on phonics...a bit late to do so at P3...but better than never. Also learning comprehension skills and then compo after that.

As for science, I am waiting for her school teacher to start...rather be on back end to revise and reinforce. For Math, I :siam: ...hubby's responsibility.
I saw this newly published title 'Science Weekly' by EPH at popular. Only avail for P3 and P6. Daughter is enjoying the attention lavished on her this year.

She has Chinese tuition once a week...tutor advised me to let her do hw on her own...trying to do that, but she needs explanation for 辩字测验. So I explain each character and 搭配.

DD school has ramped up the speed…

Chinese already start lesson 1, but no homework though.
Maths already finish chapter 1, 4-pages in the Onsponge book is homework for today
English got homework for grammar (8pgs)
                      Science nothing yet…very surprising

Chinese spelling list was given out with school books. So have make daughter practice. But the test dates are not advised yet…

Science and English spelling list not out.

Any kind parent can share their school science spelling list?

My dd's teacher assigned Science homework. No news on a Science spelling list yet. I will share if any such list is sent home.
