Appeal Secondary One Posting

I totally agree with flyaway and Councillor. I had the same situation too and my gal decided not to accept the appeal school. All the best to her and all the kids out there, regardless they stay put or shift to their appeal school!

Same here. My Dd also decided not to accept the appeal school. The appeal result came too late. She has already made a few friends in her posted school and she likes her friends and teachers. So decided to reject the appeal. -
civic6228 ,so whats your decision now?
Have you changed school for your child already? -
My son didnt get any news from his appeal school. Is it necessary to call? Is it true that for appeal case, chances is slim? He is quite upset.

Which school did you appeal?

Which school did you appeal?

It's better to call and get a closure for your kid.....be it good / bad news. Your kid needs to have certainty as school year has started, and settle down to whichever school he is with. Good luck and whatever is the outcome, always remember there is always more than one road to Rome - success will come to the one who persist and work hard.Sopmama:

Was told that was the last day the school was accepting appeals. Was also told that they would only call successful cases.Ceirelav:

One of my DS classmate was a transfer case. So, think there is slim hope of you appeal being successful. To get closure, suggest you call Zhonghua to confirm and let your kid begins life at the posted school. -
I realize from reading the various comments in this thread, that the appeal results sometimes come out so late that even if successful, a child in the posted school is reluctant to leave although there is now a place in the appeal school.
This is an appalling waste of resource for the posted school, appeal school and parents of the child in question. There is the admin work done by the respe time schools, the purchase and exchange of uniforms if the appeal is successful and the stressor not knowing the results of the appeal until the end of the 1st week of school if not later.
As this problem appears to affect many parents perhaps the KSP editors can collate the comments and provide feedback to the MOE. Alternatively the KSP editors can write to the MOE directly and reference the relevant threads/forums that deal with this issue.
I believe that if the MOE sees the actual "on the ground" comments from parents, it will have a better idea of how to deal with the issue and at least think of a solution especially for the PSLE children from 2013 onwards.
The expressions of anxiety, anger, frustration, resignation, disappointment, exasperation, unhappiness appear to repeat itself every year. KSP has the unique advantage of getting raw feedback and should pass this on to the MOE.
You will be surprised at how sometimes the policy planners at the MOE may not be fully aware of then the ground reactions. (take for eg. the recent exercise by LTA to send its officers to various bus stops etc to see how commuters coped and how some LTA officers raised there were on the ground difficulties that they were not aware of). It could be the same issue with the MOE. -
I think MOE does not encourage us to appeal. Maybe parents should consider stay put in the posted school if there is no news from appeal school after 1st week of school. Moreover, the kids have already adapt to the new environment & make new friends.
