:rotflmao: :hi5:Are you showing your posts to your DS?
My sister used to threaten her DD2 that she will make her stay with me if the girl is naughty. The threat is only effective for 1 hour. Once the girl forgot, she misbehave again.... Kekekeke.... -
We didn’t show him this post. We cannot stand unmotivated-ness and academic incompetence in children. A child with both is the last straw for us.

Our son is lazy, spending his time on TV only. My husband and I have decided to send him away for good. Do anyone know are there children's homes to take in the kid?
Wondering ...
how many husbands would get sent away , if only wives could , for the same crime? -

If your son is unmotivated, there are 2 ways to tackle it:
1. Incentive
2. Discipline
Or combination of both. You must take into account your son's character and situation when applying any of them. There are many types of incentives and discipline that you can use. You must see what works with your son. I think if he is above P3, he should not be canned anymore. It will be tiring to talk and talk and talk sense to him but it is better than physical punishment.
For the academic competence, you must find the root cause. Is he lazy but actually a smart boy? Is academically smart or is he street smart (they are different)? Is he academically weak (in this case you must manage your expectation)? Are his teachers good teachers (some teachers really can't teach)? After you find root cause, then you address it.
Everything takes time. He will not change in 1-2 months. It may take 1-2 years or more. Be patient. -

Seems that blood isn’t necessarily always thicker than water…

Oh dear, read this book please:

and you will realise the reason your son is unmotivated is really you. Ever since I read that book, I don't use the word 'unmotivated' on my kid anymore! -
