Yes, I think $100 per hour is too much for an hour of tuition.

For Primary school level, it should not be anywhere near $100 per hour. However, for JC level, it might be around $100/hr range.

I have heard of tutors charging that price for secondary level though. Its my co-worker. But her daughter really got A1 after that. So I think thats worth it.

P.S. i don know the tutor contact. sorry so please dont ask me.

Way too high for pri sch. The range for pri sch should be between $25-40, sec $40-70 and JC $70+. Anyway it is hard to say what direct benefit to grades, but at least when there’s a tutor there is some focus during the tuition period.

                  crazyvt:
My son had a tutor who specializes in Sec 3 and 4 Additional and E Maths. She is super good! My son had failed his Sec 3 A maths but after engaging her, he is able to score A2 for A maths and A1 for E Maths in his prelims! Now praying that he could score an A1 for both A and E maths for his O levels!!!

Her rates are reasonable too, only $35 per hour. If i am remember correctly, she has A1 in both A and E maths for her O level as well as an A in her A levels Maths!
Hi crazyvt, can you pm me her contact. I'm looking for a Math tutor for my dd. Thx. :thankyou:

Anything can not use money to 衡量,even if students got A or A *, it is not a big deal, maybe student made his/her own effort enough, tuition teacher just feel happy is ok, for me, I am a school teacher, my tuition students got a good result, I never charged more, just follow market rate.

                      Hello Everyone

I met a private tutor for my p5 girl who offered an intensive 1 to 1 coaching for 3 months (math & science total 48hrs). The rate quoted was $180 per hour. Upon completion of this 3 months intensive coaching she will join the group at $80 per hr. Is this the normal going rate for private tuition?

FYI my girl is an average girl but fared badly this year in CA1 & SA1.

Appreciate your comments and welcome any recommendation for tutors/enrichment classes.

                      Thanks.
this is too expensive, way over market rate.
i think the maximum i will pay for tuition for upper primary will be 30-40 per hour .

                        Skyed:
Would any parent actually hire say a JC student/sec 4 o level student to tutor their child in primary/lower sec? Because I'm a sec 4 student this year awaiting O level results and I was thinking of giving tuition at super low rates but would any parent actually trust their child with such a young tutor?

Yes, you can charge $10 an hour first. As you get more experience and further your studies, you can command a higher rate that is reasonable between you and parents.
