Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)

for P1 at Tien Hsia,
do they teach pupils to look at a picture, then describe it in a 1 line sentence ? -
titank:
some Tao Nan parents sent their children there (Yuquan, Marine Parade branch), and the feedback was good !
Anyone let their kid take the following course from Yuquan Lang Sch?
中华字经》快速识字课程
成语识字 Cool
A parent i spoke to told me that her son no problem with Chinese in primary school, he attended both since K2. Now her son big, Sec 3 in a SAP Sec school. She said a number of parents from Tao Nan whose kids in the Bicep program also sent them there. They built the child's foundation well from young.
during P1 orientation in Nanyang primary SAP school, Yuquan will set up a booth there, inviting P1 parents to join these 2 program. Yuquan teachers can then go down to Nanyang school premises and teach Nanyang students there, help them build up a strong foundation from P1.

I found out from my child's K2 Chinese teacher at Tien Hsia saying that Tien Hsia is incorporating Hanyu Pinyin into their classes on top of learning new Chinese Vocabulary words. There will be more focus on speaking and reading as they are following the MOE Chinese syllabus. She shared that there will be Spelling twice a term. The Chinese K2 enrichment has been extended from 1h 30min to 1 h 45 min. She shared that the K2 worksheets for 2013 will be different from 2012. She also advised that the child not be late for class as there will be lots for her to teach. Glad to know that Tien Hsia has done some adjustment to their K2 enrichment curriculum to prepare children for Pri 1 next year.
sembgal,
may i ask which TH branch are you refering to ?
Are they going to change worksheets for 2013 K2, for all TH branches, or only your branch ? -

I have verified with 天下that 2013 K2 enrichment worksheets will be the revised version for all branches in Singapore. You may like to call up 天下 to enquire more. Select the right teacher is very important. My child has been with the same 天下teacher for the past 3 years. That teacher is currently a preschool teacher. Personally, I prefer preschool teacher to teach as she has the classroom teaching experience. 天下 teachers go through in house training first before they start teaching. Timing for K2 enrichment has been revised for all branches too. It has been revised to 1 hr 45min with a slight adjustment to the fee.sembgal:

Yes, Tien Hsia will teach that for Pri 1 too. In fact, K2 for this year at Tien Hsia already started teaching children to look at a picture and describe in sentences. The focus now is more on speaking instead of writing.for P1 at Tien Hsia,

Hi,
I’m new to this forums, and I’m thinking of sending my son for Mandarin enrichment, and everyone seems to be recommending Berries. My son doesn’t really like Mandarin that much, so I’m presuming that Berries should be better than TH?
I would like to take a look at the books first before deciding though , and please PM me if you are willing to sell me your old books (anything from Nursery to K2). I don’t mind if it’s old and written-on.
Thank you! -

Hi,
I am also having some considerations whether to enrol my daughter in Berries or in Tsien Hsia. Good to have found this thread.
