Their curriculum is standard across all centres, personally I’ll choose mind stretcher over Mavis.

My 2 gals in mind stretcher Sembawang for 6months and I didn't see any improvement. The teacher will write on the whiteboard everytime then the children copy the answer that's all..

Recently I went thru with her the worksheets then she unable to explain to me like mathematics questions etc. Quite disappointed.. Both teachers frm diff lvl and they do the same kind of teaching. If I need someone to write the answers on the whiteboard and ask my gal to copy must as well I get anyone or even primary school student to do it! If my DH or myself got time to teach them I wun be wasting my money there.. Will consider just education
Can anyone verify if it's true that some of Mindstretcher younger students have left and gone to Just Education for tuition at certain branches?

Just to add my thoughts. Ask to browse through the worksheets first. Gauge it and you know. I have high respect for Mindstretcher at stretching students’ potential but that ended when I realised that some of their worksheets for my child at kindergarten level were photocopied from assessment books wholesale without editing. I prefer a tuition centre that has a team of curriculum specialists that create their own worksheets. Hunt around and you do the comparison on what’s best for your child.

              Thanks sembgal,

Agree on the part on lifting whole sale what puts people off.I found out that one of my boy’s tuition centre lifts off certain part of paper two from one of the assessment books we have.the tutor said it is good as my boy will then get to revise twice.this I disagree.but other than that, the tutor is able to engage the class so we have to over look this point for now,as we tried a previous upmarket centre with good materials but their tutor cannot connect with my boy.
I have browse through MS english class papers and is not easy for p5 basing on my standards. Would like to find out more about their HA class and their teaching methods. Thanks.

My son was in MS Jurong (Yoha) for English, Maths and Science. I think the teachers are very irresponsible in their markings. Some of the answers were wrongly answered by my son was marked correct. I feedback to the centre but not sure did they take any action on the teachers. I had already withdrawn my son from MS Jurong. My sister-in-law's P2 son also there for English, also feedback the teacher not good.

And the admin also blur. When I withdraw, they should have offset the last mth fee with my deposit but they did not and when I ask for the deposit to be refunded to me, they said can only refund 2 weeks after my son's last lesson. It's surely their mistake and when I ask for it to be refunded immediate as I am not happy they hold on to my deposit which they should not have to. After complaining to the manager, they can only refund on the last day of the lesson! Inflexible in management!

Yes, I have encountered difficulty when withdrawing my child. I filled up withdrawal form at least 1 month ahead. I understood that my deposit will be used to offset the last month school fee. Mindstretcher still remind me to pay the fees through reminder letters and phone calls. I am unsure if their management has a problem educating their customer service officer about keeping proper withdrawal record.

Hi, I personally encountered the same bad experiences with MS Jurong (yoHA) as all of you. I was most disappointed with the quality of the tutors and the materials. Fortunately, there is another tuition centre under the same roof whose tutors are ex-top school teachers and the materials developed by them.

Any feedback from parents Mindstretcher Maths is better or Just Edu Maths (in terms of their materials).

I heard that Just hires people to write their materials. Are these writers qualified and experienced teachers or are they just undergraduates or polytechnic students? What about Mindstretcher? Who wrote their curriculum? Anyone knows of any learning centres who engages experienced teachers to write and to teach in their centres?

Hi, I was referred by someone in this forum to True Learning Centre as I was looking for a tuition centre that is owned by top ex-school teachers. The materials in this tuition centre are written by a President Award for Teachers recipient who is also a MOE Master Teacher, and a ex-HOD/Math from Hwa Chong Institution. The lessons are also delivered by ex-HODs and ex-school teachers. If you are looking for a tuition centre for your children, you may consider True Learning Centre.

                    Hi,

Anyone knows if Mindstretcher allows skipping of levels… Eg. P3 doing P5 class for writers toolbox?

You could show the school some essays written by your high ability child in order for them to consider putting him/her in a higher level class.

Ok… Thanks! I thought they are rather rigid and everything has got to go by the book. I do not have a HA child, but thought I saw someone we know going for a higher level class. So was just wondering if it’s possible.
