CHIJ Family of Schools

From all that I've read, only SNGS Primary is affliated to the secondary school. No other IJ school has the affiliation advantage.Hi Parent, need some of your advise.
My dd is in one of the IJ primary sch. It is not affiliated to St Nick Sec, but if I intend to choose St Nick sec as her sec sch, will I stand a better chance of getting in since they are the IJ family schools?
Also, the affiliation is considered only for the O Level track, not the IP track. -

I'm looking at the O level track. I heard parents saying that one can get the Principal to write a letter and will thus stand a better chance than those not from the IJ family...can that work?

No idea. But I would be interested to know if this option is available.

I would suggest you check with your school principal and let us know the outcome. :xedfingers: -
No matter what letter the principal writes, ultimately, your dd must have the minimum Cut-off point for entry to SNGS. No affiliation is about 252 or so. So if she is 251, then perhaps that letter may prove useful. If 240, then forget it.

Well, if you want to compare how strong academically, you need to compare their intake of quality students as well.
SNGS only wants the best students so it is only understandable that strong students produce strong results. The other IJs are more tolerant of low-performing students and follow the vision of the missionaries who started the IJ schools in the first place - to provide education for girls, not just smart girls.
As SNGS is one of my choices for my gal as well, some kiasuparents with gals at SNGS pm me that it is very stressful to keep up. So it all depends on how much stress you and your gal can take before you choose a suitable IJ school for her. -

My sil's daughter was from St Nic (primary)...the stress is terrible. According to SIL, her poor daughter was so stressed that she cried in school several times. There were also cases of bullying. Police were called in.

As for other IJ schools, they are not SAP. Affiliation doesn't mean they take in all their girls. The COP has been increased to 220 with immediate effect. -

They both share the same secondary affiliation to St Joseph's Convent. No big difference in academic standard in my opinion. I would use distance as the deciding factor.
Is st Joseph's Convent a gd secondary school? -
i am following CHIJ St NICK and realise that only those staying within 1km have a real chance
Does anyone here have a list that identify housing within 1km, e,g which block which condo etc -
Go to SLA website Onemap.sg and search School Query. Those highlighted in red are within 1km.
Be careful of buying Meadows at Peirce as some blocks are outside the 1km radius.
Just be aware that even if you live within 1km, your chances are only less than 50%. So think twice if it’s worth to move. You may get nothing in the end…have Plan B ready.
And if you are not Catholic or grassroots, you effectively only get one chance to ballot at Phase 2C. Also heard that St Nicks has stopped taking in Parent Volunteers from this year. -

think maybe part of the stress arise is because -

St Nick Secondary had gone IP. Many SNGS primary P6 girls keen to enter IP track, need to meet the minimal COP score.
btw, can share what kind of bullying cases took place ?
