Don't think so, but you may get invitation to visit Istana and have a dialogue with PM šŸ˜‚

      Can I reject PM's invitation? šŸ˜“

      Haha... it's an \"honor\" what...

But, seriously, I think the FB petition is really a good idea. The gov needs positive feedbacks.

I wonder why nobody starts this petition? Should I go for it? Anyone here will support the petition?

Anyone wants to start a Petition to get Maid Levy abolished?

Will I get invitation from Govt to 'drink coffee' if I start the petition on Facebook?
Yes, you should start a Petition and add Halimah in the facebook too. If the Govt ask you to drink kopi, I will follow you. We are talking about facts, not gossips. There is nothing to be afraid of. If the Govt refuses to compromise, we will write a letter to ST Forum to highlight this issue.

Anyone can start a petition , especially if they feel many hold their opinion.

But we need to really think why? Petitions should be for changes that affect a community - something that benefits it or is an injustice that needs to be addressed.

Maid levy is indeed a source of revenue for the govt. It is not only for maids but for all foreign workers. In a way it is supposed to deter us from reliance on Foreign workers. And also the costs of having foreign workers in our tiny island.

Some need a maid and the maid expenses are a real strain on their budget. If a family with 5 digit monthly income or more says that the levy is too expensive , then is it fair? I think a large number of maids are hired by this group . Some ,if not many, who protest this levy even here in this forum are in this group too.

I would benifit too if the levy is abolished or reduced.
But is this benefitting the society at large? Is this an injustice to a group of people?
            IMHO - a resounding NO.

Valid points. For sure, once maid's levy scrapped, other sectors that employ FW will ask for the same.

I did not assume any such thing, stating my opinion as I am entitled to. In a civilized manner .

If you do not have net etiquette, then you should learn first.
And I seriously wonder how you treat your maid ?

And btw, thank you for assuming I am rich and generous. It feels good. Just for the records, I am not both.

The reason I support your FB petition is because I think that's a positive way to put across people's message. Like Dora1 posted on other thread, if there is no such avenues, people would just be driven \"underground\" to rant. Just my 2cents la.

This is totally unnecessary. Sun raised many valid points. This is a forum where views are shared so expect to see views contrary to yours. Address the issue, not the poster.
