I want to cry whenever I read about how the family is coping. Imagine life suddenly without our children. the boy's parents are not young anymore. it will take a long,long time to come out of the grief. I hope the parents will find the strength in the end to move on.

ON MOST days, Madam Suliani Ang would have gone to pick up her younger boy Donovan Yap after school.
But on Monday, her older son Nigel volunteered to take her place. Donovan, seven, was attending his first wushu lesson and would finish only at 5pm - an hour before the start of Madam Ang's shift at McDonald's.
Nigel, just 13, did not want his mother to be late.
He cycled to Tampines North Primary School to pick up Donovan, but never made it home with his brother. -

It must be difficult for you to witness the scene too... :hugs:it happened near my place and i saw the scene. was at the wake ytd to pay my last respect for the boys
couldnt sleep well since Monday and i wonder how long it is going to last. my eyes turn teary whenever the scene of them lying there flash into my mind.no mother in the world should witness such tragic on her children. my heart goes out to her and may God helps her and the family to get through this difficult period.
I read in chinese papers that as it's after school hours, 50 kids from nearby school witnessed it.
For us, who cried for the 2 boys when reading the news. It must have been alot worst for the family. 2 beautiful and sensible kids gone like that.... They didn't even have a chance to say goodbye...
I read some comments on friend's FB that it was a tragedy that could have been avoided if the parents have been more careful. But it's an accident. Who wish for the tragic accident to happen??? I found that very insensitive. I believe the mum will find difficulty facing it for the rest of her life and there will be alot of self blame... Hope she will find strength to move on. She is still young.
Through this accident, it made all of us take stock of life and treasure our loved ones. Having our kiddos alive and healthy with us is more important than academic performance. -

Yesterday DA said the Principal had told them about it DS. He asked me a lot of questions as we read the articles together.
This has kind of made me stop and think about the big picture, and not get worked up about the daily inanities..

I cannot agree with you more. Cyclists should also practice road etiquette. I have almost been knocked down by them on pedestrain pavements, they have suddenly appeared in the middle of small roads when traffic lights is not in their favour and some have even rode in the middle of the lane, causing slow traffic at peak hours.I agree with Dora1..prevention is better than cure..I do not trust my maid to send/walk/take bus to send my kids to school..coz saw so many cases of near-knock down cases of maids bring kids to school!
& I will never allow my kids to ride bicycle on the roads!
& to be fair to drivers,cyclists in S'pore Ned to be taught on proper cycling eg,they are supposed to walk across traffic light with the bicycle,NOT cycle across? Correct me if I am wrong..
My hubby almost knock down a teenager who cycled at high speed across a traffic light late night when lighting was bad..& traffics light was green for my hubby!!within 1-2 sec,the boy just cycled across at high speed!!i screamed then hubby shouted at me asking why?!then he saw the boy.,if hubby drove off at the moment light turn green for him,that will b another tragedy!! &. Nightmares for us!! So who is at fault?!
I used to pick my kids up when the school bus service is not available even though they wanted to take the public transport. Even though I can teach them road safety, when it is a situation of kids with kids, they may forget, especially boys. On their way to the bus-stop, they may engage in childish play such as \"I push you, you push me\". I had seen near accidents when picking up kids from school. -

But all this is sooooo sad. My son asked if they( the brothers) had any other siblings ?
Makes me want to do something, feeling so helpless... dunno what to do
Maybe will go down to the junction and place some flowers this weekend.
