I’m looking for a home tutor for Literature, if not, a tuition centre. Please PM if you have any recommendation. TIA!

Literature got to feel - This is the subject I don't enjoy. Too much to analyse.

Hubby said geography requires some physics knowledge....I gave him that 'huh' look :siam: literature, I told son to ask questions in school when in doubt. History, I don't mind as it is like reading story book. Sec 1 ah...not easy man. Son told me it is as crazy as preparing for PSLE...even worse bcos time is insufficient every day.

My boy will need to manage his time properly. He join 2 CCAs (scouting & debating) that will require him to stay back on 2 week days & go back on Sat from 9am to 6pm.

There are more subjects in Sec 1 & fewer lessons being allocated to each subject. There is only 2 periods each for History & Geography. Literature is combined with English. My boy already told me that Geography is boring.

Think about it, it is good to be crazy in P6. It mentally prepare them for more crazy stuff in Sec 1. :rotflmao:

No tuition centre offers literature & moreover different school is using different textbook. Those who are strong in English will have advantage.

My DS already told me after 1st lesson that Literature is boring. I told him that Literature could help him improve on his English and that was what happened to me. I hope he would have a change of heart :xedfingers:

My DS just called me to inform me that he has got into ELDDS. It is not his first choice, which is St John. But glad that he does not need to come back every Saturday unless they are preparing for competition.

Anyone can advise if parent still needs to supervise the kids when they are in Year 1? As I’m working, what should I look out for and how to monitor her work?

My DD1 is unhappy if I look through her homework, is it normal?
She said she wants to be independent and does not need me to guide her even in the mistakes (she said she will learn her mistakes from teachers). Tks

Your son is in ACS I? My friend's son is in Sec 2...scouts and another CCA. Have to stay back twice a week. Time management is very important.

History and geography only once a week. Last year was super crazy...kind of taught them to be a bit resilient. But at Sec 1, time is really insufficient.
Just yesterday, son complained he has no time to play. Hubby was like :slapshead: PLAY ???

I think we as parents, need to let go at times. Your DD1 is getting independent and feels that she can handle her own stuff. In that case, you shd let her be on her own but occasionally peek in to see if she needs any help. If a child still need parents to check on them daily, it will be very tiring for the parents as well as the child will be very dependent, thinking that why should I care, since my mum is going to check for me later....

I do not supervise son's homework any more. If he doesn't get it done, he will have to face the teacher...and the embarrassment of being scolded in front of whole class. But he does approach hubby or myself if he needs explanation. Hubby is the one coaching him for geography and math.

I am facing EXACTLY the same problem. My DS doesn't want me to look through his homework. But at times, I still insists so that I know what is going on in school. When I spotted any mistakes, I would point out to him and tell him that it's better for us to correct on the spot rather than wait until the teacher passes back the corrected homework a few days or 1 week later.

Sometimes he is not happy but when I insist, he 'boh pian'. For for Higher Chinese, he don't mind my DW to help as he knows he require it.
