School Teachers Working as Tutors

From my understanding, MOE stated clearly that each officer is allowed not more than 6 hours per week to do any side lines.

And officers can only tutor students from other schools instead of their own school’s. Unless it is FOC.
If reported to school, it can be dealt with seriously.

If this teacher continues to give the boy a hard time, my friend will be approaching the P...no way will she allow the teacher to use mental abuse on her son.

My friend is desperate and pissed off with son’s teacher.

BTW, that teacher is HOD for English.
She is really thinking of marching into principal’s office but wonder if anything will be done…if just a warning, then consequences will be worst as her son will have a harder time till PSLE.

This is really unethical, how can a teacher teach her own school kids on the side? Gosh, I think your friend should accumulate evidence (eg recording/sms) and then provide the evidence to BOTH MOE and the school.

If that teacher still continues to teach the child, unless the child gives in, else the child will have a hard time (whether it was reported or not). Your friend should insist on the school showing that this teacher will not be able to further impact her child, eg by having any teacher take over the class. Can such a teacher be expected to be impartial if given a warning in view of such activities?

This is what the teacher is doing. As it is, she is giving the poor boy problem in school...this is blackmail. Ultimately, will the P and MOE take this person out ?

agree on the blackmail part although that word is a bit strong. So far I only hear of teachers giving extra help FOR FREE after class; but never this kind of rate and this kind of pressure. must not be very successful if she has to resort to making life difficult for those who reject. I don't think the whole class is under her external tutelage.

Another option is to go to other parents and ask if their kids are being taught/offered. Then have more and more parents kick up a fuss should teacher be doing this for the entire class (where got time also) or omitting some etc.

I would definitely try to contact the rest of the parents in the class and see if she has approached anyone else. Once you have as much information as possible, report her to the Principal. It is totally unacceptable behaviour.

Just want to ask if a current school teacher is allowed to teach in an enrichment centre? Like Mavis, or Mindstretcher etc.?
