Of course, there are plenty. DSTA seems to be the most common, ASTAR as well. There are other corporate scholarships as well: Changi Airport Group, Keppel Group etc, and government scholarships such as HPB, MOE, etc. Taking up a scholarship is extremely common.
Wow, that's very good ! Btw, any govt agencies such as MINDEF, ASTAR, DSTA offer any scholarship to NUSHS ?hubertkoh:
Our university entrance rate is 100%, none of my cohort did not get into university.
Engineering I think around 40%
Science 20%
Medicine 10%
Dentistry sub-5%
Law 5%
Accountancy also 5%
Rest is liberal arts college in US and Humanities/Social Sciences -

Can share what are your 4 Honours subjects ? My DS1 is very keen/interested in Biology & Chemistry and he put in a lot of effort in these subjects but he feels that Bio 'suddenly' become so tough starting from year 2.
I was one of the more enthusiastic students who took all 4 Honours (the maximum number) when I reached the specialization years. It's not that difficult if you study regularly every day. I had a habit of putting in about 5-6 hours of study almost every day.hubertkoh:

Can share how you 'survive' your biology throughout the 6 years ? :imdrowning: I already seeing 'stars' just looking at those terminolgy used ... So 'chimm' :faint:
I'd come home from school at around 6pm, have dinner and recreation for about half an hour to one hour, then start revision from 730pm til about 130am. Once its a habit its not that difficult.
Haha :imcool:He tries to read up before each lesson and does his revision after school but I think the pace is too fast. :yikes:[/quote]The only 4 Honours subjects NUSHS offers are Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics.

Hi Hubert Koh
How do u think the English subject in NUSH? Is it easier than other famous school such as RI or HCI? Normally, how the NUSH students perform in this subject?
They never learn how to write a play but are asked to do it as a project? What do u think?
Thanks. -
Yes, the standard of English in NUSH is generally lower than in other schools, because:
(a) The students there are more science inclined than humanities/languages inclined
(b) Not much emphasis is put on English (it was cut 2 hours a week for some time before being raised back to 3 hours per week just a few years ago)The curriculum is new and quite haphazard; teachers have considerable leeway to do what they want (because there is no O or A level exams to hold them to account) so it depends alot on what kind of teacher you have. The English teachers there are a mixed bag, so it depends on your luck.
So yes, the standard of English education in the school is quite lacking, but if you’re good in English then it doesn’t really matter. If not, then other schools would probably do a better job in improving your language skills. But hey, its NUSH of Math and Science. -
Btw, numbers provided for Class of 2010 above are wrong.
For offers to local universities (Batch size: ~170):
Medicine (11)
Dentistry (1)
Law (4)
Approximately 1/3 head overseas.
Approximately ~20% are on some sort of scholarship. (not confirmed)
Most people end up doing Science or Accountancy (circa 40%) locally.
However, there are people doing all sorts of subjects in university; from Architecture to Liberal Arts to even Art & Design.
Scholarship organisations which have awarded NUSH students with scholarships include PSC, EDB, ASTAR, DSTA, CAG, HPB, IRAS, MOE…in short, quite a spectrum. -
Soon scholarships may be offered by Office for Space Technology and Industry (OSTIn): http://www.asiaone.com/News/Latest%2BNews/Singapore/Story/A1Story20130221-403539.html
