      Edward Koh:
Help... Since Jan, my DD has already lost 2 text books! I gathered from her that these books were kept by the teacher and apparently fails to return back to her. Is this true?

      yikes 2 textbooks??

Text books are kept in their locker which is right outside the classroom.

teachers only keep their workbooks/activity books which is behind the sliding board.

The lockers doesnt have a lock .. you should report to the teacher as they dont have locks as honesty is one of the virtue...

How is the 1st lesson so far?

I was tempted to sign DD1 for it but it is only for P2 and kind of wasted if she doesnt get to pursue after 🀷

The violin class is for P1 to P3 students. I was at the 1st lesson yesterday. There were a total of around 14 students, about 2 from P2, 3-4 from P3 and the rest from P1.

The main violin teacher is a nice old lady and she has 4 younger assistants with her to help the kids.

They measure the kids up for the size of the violin, taught them how to hold the violin and the bow, some minor facts about the instrument and the kids managed to play a simple tune during the 1st lesson.

After which, they were tasked to go home and practice placing the violin on the shoulder and play the simple tune at home.

Hi Edward, it happened to my daughter who is in P1 too! I was very sure she left it in class and left a note to the form teacher in her diary, pleading her to search the class again. She replied on same day and said she couldn't find. So that night I bought her a replacement book in popular. Guess what? The book miraculously appeared in class and her classmate told her it was under another classmate's desk.

The teacher keeps most of their textbooks for which I'm grateful. My advice to you is to seek the teacher's help in asking the class to check their table and locker to see if they have extra books.

I called up the school and spoke to the vendor who was running the programme. She said we could stay for the first lesson to see how the lesson is being managed and also to answer any questions regarding the violins etc as some girls are buying them there. not allowed after that.
