Home Leave for Indonesian helper
-
Hi Queen or Maid,
Thank you for your detailed reply! The maid agency got back to me too saying my helper will need a home leave cos she was under the ‘old rules’. I guess a trip down the Embassy is unavoidable.
My helper’s KTKLN card will only expire in June 2013. Does that mean she need not renew her card since she will be back in Singapore by February 2013? She told me she intend to continue another 2 years with us then go back Indonesia for good so does not want to go through the hassle of applying a new KTKLN card (plus don’t want to waste money).
I’m thinking should be the case too. Will ask the Embassy when I go down too.
Thank you once again. Appreciated! -
Hi all,
I am bringing my Indo helper to Bali for holiday. I was told that I need to apply home leave at the Indonesian Embassy. I called my agency and also said the same. They said any Indo maid going back to Indonesia needs to apply home leave. I dont have to go thru these hassle when I brought her to Thailand.
Does anyone have such experience? Is it true that I need to go Indonesian Embassy with my helper to apply home leave even though I am bringing her for a holiday in Bali.
Please advise. Thank you in advance! -
I cannot guarantee this, but I have a few friends that brought their maid to Indonesia for holidays etc. When traveling with the employer, they can just go through (what I called first class citizen)… but when traveling by themselves (home leave), they become third class… where all these KTKLN business comes into play.

Thanks. I had sent an email to Indonesian Embassy but no reply yet and called but no answer. The web site wasnt clear. May be I need to make a trip to the Embassy. I had told my helper if its so troublesome, she shall stay put and look after the house.

She applies or renews her KTKLN card when she is back in Indonesia. What you need to do on your end now is to get her the working contract from the local Indonesia Embassy. It is a two/three pages document signed by yourself / helper and endorsed by the embassy. They will give you two copies (one for her to bring back) and some notes with addresses where she can apply for the KTKLN card back home. She will also need to purchase insurance (Rp290,000) – all done by her in Indonesia. The card is like their exit permit and it is not tied to her passport validity. My helper passport is expiring in October but was issued a 2 years validity KTKLN card.
In fact, my helper went back in December and I was so worried (or kiasu) she will get held back in Indonesia I even got my home address endorsed in her passport. I kept reminding her to sort out the KTKLN card first before she enjoys her home leave which she did and sent me a text too.
Apply the levy waiver online on CPF website upon her return.
My indonesian maid has KTKLN card and still valid till Nov'13. She going home for 2 weeks. She was transferred from another employer and has worked for me for 6 months. My agency did not give me any working contract endorsed by the embassy when I hire her.
Can she just go home leave with the KTKLN and WP card, with the contract?
Is it a must for her to have a stamp on the passport?
If really need to go embassy to do all those, must the employer go down personally with the maid or can I get my sister or someone else to help bring her? -

My maid will be going back for her holiday soon too. So do we need to apply home leave for them? My maid KTKLN card will only expiring March 2014. She said she will go home and renew it.
One more qns for those employers maid will come back to continue the contract, will you hold some amount from them? Just in case, they don come back anymore. If yes, what is the amount? -
Hi
May I know what’s a KTKLN card?
Don’t think my mom’s maid has it, and she’s going on home leave this Dec.
Thanks! -

if maid has bank account, just keep the min sum in there. If not, up to maid and employer to agree. If maid is long timer, maybe not required. Sometimes the maid may have good reasons to bring all her money home (buy house etc) and may get disgruntled if employer try to hold their money. Remember it IS their hard earned money afterall. My maid will be going back for her holiday soon too. So do we need to apply home leave for them? My maid KTKLN card will only expiring March 2014. She said she will go home and renew it.
