How much pocket money are you giving your P1 kid? TIA

$1.50 since p1. He doesn’t buy drinks or things from bookshop. Small bowl of noodles is around $0.80, really a very small bowl. A plate of pasta is $1.50, and keeps hunger at bay till lunch. You can go to the school canteen and note down the prices and portions.

Hmm..When I was in P1 I was given 1.80 everyday should be enough I guess 0.80 for noodles a small bowl one and maybe a packet of drink for 0.50 still can save 50 cents
Maybe can buy bigger bowl of noodles or rice which cost maybe about 1.00

My kid says $1.50 for normal days is enough, but there are others getting $4.00 a day, and for some, the parents maintain $10 in the wallet. Maybe it has to cover other things as well for them - drinks, stationary, breakfast? But from what i hear (from son and teachers), those with generous ‘income’ tend to spend on toys from the bookshop, new erasers to make eraser dust, or to cut them up for aiming at the dustbins, or buying new exercise books to shred up to make paper balls. Or giving out money. One girl with divorced parents was giving out $1.00 coin to five students regularly for making eraser dust for her. Her ‘workers’ have to contribute brand new erasers but they still turn a profit…That’s five dollars out every two days or so…

DDs’ daily pocket money is $2 a day and $4 if they have CCA in the afternoon.
they dont tend to spend everything and save 1/2 of it. sometimes, they used their pocket money for pencil lead or exercise books, they will inform me to "Expense" -

my blur boy broke all his pencils/color pencils for 2 consecutive days to help his friend add to his collection before I confronted him and made him promised not to do so anymore. -

No purpose at all!! But it is a status symbol of sorts - I have MORE eraser dust than you ah!! :faint:
