[Bishan] Primary Schools

Will be registering my gal for P1 this year. I'll get to register in Phase 2B for Kuo Chuan, through PV and for Ai Tong, may be Phase 2B as well (have joined the clan but only for a year, so not sure of the chance).
All this while, I've been struggling, not sure which of these schools to register for her. Ai Tong is a SAP school and though she speaks Mandarin fairly well, is not interested in writing and reading Chinese, plus she is not the self motivated type, not sure if she could handle the pressure. As for Kuo Chuan, academically, they are probably average only, and over the years, don't think they have good PSLE results.
The registration date is drawing nearer, and I am still very much undecided
Hope someone could give me some advice.
TIA.

I thought your choice is simple: Ai Tong by a long mile. Reason - it is a SAP school. Will be registering my gal for P1 this year. Self-motivated kids are hard to come by these days. My kid is Pri 3 and I still have to constantly remind him to prepare for his spelling and 听写 and stuff. He speaks English at home and reads lots of English story books, and never voluntarily speaks or pick up a Chinese book to read. But he attends a SAP school and his Chinese results are on par with the rest of his subjects. The fact is, SAP schools provide the best foundation for Chinese that you can get for your child, and we all know how important fluency in Chinese will be in our children's future.
Don't pre-judge what your child is capable of doing. Help her prove that she can be as good as any other child in Chinese. -
Thanks much for your response, Chiefkiasu.
I guess I’ll sit down and think through my options again. My hubby think, with my gal’s character, she’s never going to “survive” in Ai Tong. -

Hi Bishan_Mom,
I have also thought of KCP - think will go to their open house on Jun.
Do you stay within 1 km with these 2 school ? -
kaimono:
KCP is actually not too bad - they won the prestigious BPA award which is the highest award that any primary school can get.Hi Bishan_Mom,

BPA = Best Practice Award
hmm, what is BPA ?
But I made a mistake. The most prestigious award so far for Primary schools is the SDA = School Distinction Award. Kuo Chuan Presbyterian has won both the SDA and BPA, which speaks well of their overall performance.

how about personally do you think st gariel's or kcp ? -

St Gabriel good meh? Personally, I think don't think so - not when you already have a choice of Ai Tong and KCP. When looking for a primary school for my children, a strong foundation in Chinese is a must for me. I think Ai Tong and KCP have a higher chance of providing that environment than St Gabriels.
