      BigDevil:
This was what the English HOD presented during my DD's MTP session...

For compo writing, the students will be given a topic to write on, eg.
\"Write a composition about a time you were praised for doing a kind act.\"

They will be given 3 pictures to help them eg.
Pic 1: It was raining, you saw an old lady falling down in front of you
Pic 2: Old lady now holding your umbrella, while you picked her things up
Pic 3: You were standing on stage, being praised by teacher/principal.

The compo should be based on at least one of the given pictures. Students
can choose to use 1, 2, or all 3 pictures. They will be given some helping
      words.

      For oral, it's called \"Stimulus-based conversation\".
Example given was pictures of different items with prices labelled next
to them. Items like soccer ball ($19), birthday cake ($12), book ($8), etc.
And the conversation topic will be stated below: \"Look at the picture.
Which of the items would you choose to buy as a birthday present for
      your friend? Why?
      \"

That's what my DD's school will be doing. Not sure if it's the same for all.
Wow! Ii is of great help! Especially the oral component. Thank you so much for sharing.

Continue to encourage your child to read books. Whether PSLE or no PSLE English, you need not be fearful.

Build good English foundation for them. That’s what we are always doing by buying good English books for them to read.

Both of my gals have strong foundation.

Just a quick check before SA2:

For current P4, they are still expected to write only 1 composition for SA2 Paper 1 right? Whether it's based on new 2015 PSLE format or existing format?

            Thanks 🙂

And yes, they need to write only one compo and my DD said no more choices like last time (3+1 picture and continuous writing).

No more MCQ type of comprehension.

Have to build up vocabulary...questions asked will be tricky and not straightforward. School has promised parents that p4 will be a very crucial year for students.

Other than English, no change for the other 3 subjects.

I foresee a tough year ahead. :nailbite: 😓

DS has recently been taught to do email writing. Task is to extract information from 2 pages of words and pictures which is about a school activity. It did not appear to be easy.

Writing email is something very similar to summary writing of what you have read from the passage… or writing a diary on how you spent your day…

Ask your child to read the passage given carefully and capture the theme first. then summarize in his own words what happened.

The most important thing to take note is to capture the key points from passage. Also the purpose of writing email and the person it is addressed is to be noted carefully.

                        Hope this helps…
My DD is P4 this year…so far I didn’t encounter any email writing so far…
