My son is in P1 now. Today he told me that in January, when he was playing with his friend before school in the parade square, about 4 boys from another P1 class approached them and fight. He said the boys kicked him and so he fought back to defend himself. Then today, one of those boys blocked his way while he was walking to the hall and wanted to fight but my son told him he is not going to the parade square and walked off.

After hearing this, I was so shocked. They are only at P1, why are there students approaching others to fight? I told my son, that he should not even stand there and let them kick and then fight back, he should just run away and tell teacher. But I am truly shocked that this can happen in school.

Anyone else heard of this kind of thing?
Are you sure those boys are from P1?

How does your child know the boys are from P1?
P1 boys are way too innocent to do such things.

But for this, we must highlight so that the teachers can keep track of these boys.

Yes, my son could recognize that they are from a certain primary one class. But it would not be right for me to name it here.

Another question is, according to the rules, the kids are supposed to be in the hall by 1220. What if the kids are still at the canteen taking their lunch etc? Will the teachers come and look for them? Or will they be considered late for school?

Hi alwayslucky, my son is from P1 too. As I volunteered during 1st 2 weeks of school, I've observed that they do arrive early. My son who took school bus arrives at 12pm, he'll go straight to hall. But I noticed some children do play around. Kids have lunch after CCA about 1130am, but CCA only started in this week.
You may email the FT on your queries, so far my son's FT has been responsive.

I guess should be any amount...it's up to you. However I wonder why parents have to donate for upgrading.

                      Hi Wolfgirl,

You may go to asknlearn website, key in your child's BC no. as username & password. Then you explore there. There are quite a number of links to Chinese learning platform.

My child's teacher has not informed anything about it. I logged in to explore and discovered it.

As MBS is a SAP school and founded and managed by SBF, I thought I read somewhere that the government is not 100% funding the upgrade. The school would need to fund S$1.6MM themselves hence the donation drive.

With my eldest in P6, so far the donation drive in the school is mainly those hong bao for needy students or president charity. I think it's considered as manageable already. I recalled when I was in a CHIJ secondary school, there were so many donation drives all year long....

In terms of amount, it's really up to individual. Personally, in the spirit of donation, MBS was my primary school and also there is a 2.5 times tax deduction, personally, I am keen to donate more (eg. hundreds range). But seriously it's up to individual. It's the thoughts that count.
