All About Choosing and Buying Pianos
-
Hi, we are planning to start DS 6yo for 1 to 1 piano lessons. Have not found teacher yet and searching for a piano. DH and me do not have music background and really don’t know what to look for in a piano.
We do not intend to splurge so what is a good budget to look at for a decent piano to last a few years (DD will start maybe 1 year later). We are not looking at exams for the kids.
is 3K reasonable ?
is there anything in that range ? We are ok with 2nd hand piano too or show room pieces.
which brand can we look at in that range ?
Someone recommended Schumann.
Would appreciate your advise as we are really clueless. TIA -

please guys, do not buy second hand piano if you dun have the money. do you know second hand piano cost more than a brand new one when it comes to repair cost, tunings, repairs etc???Hi
My son has been learning piano for a year. Last year, when he just started learning piano, I bought a Yamaha keyboard to let him practice. I did not decide to buy a piano then as I do not know whether he is really interested in playing the piano.
Lately, his piano teacher has requested that we buy one if he intends to go for piano exam. Hence I would like to buy a second hand yahama U1. Anyone intend to sell his piano?
Also, anyone interested to buy yahama keyboard?
Regards

do you know rust can spread to the rest of the components inside and not visible to customer when purchasing it?

the answer is so simple,
casio main market is what? watches right?
Yamaha main market is what? besides motor vehicles, the next market is making of musical instruments.
bam! there goes your answer!

Well, when you consider budget, ie. you have $1000 and buy the best Yamaha you can afford vs best Casio you can afford.... it's not so simple anymore.the answer is so simple,

My kid learning piano now, 1 to 1 at Cristofori. He enjoyed his lesson with his teacher so far.
I need to get a piano too, first, budget around 3 K but heard 3K is hard to get reasonably good one. So i upped my budget to 5K............i have yet to shop. Can anyone of u feedback what u bought which is so far so good? I do not want to splurge further as i worry kid won't want to play after 2, 3 years down the road. He’s 6ish now. Actually am learning too………but very hard for me, hands, eyes, legs all cannot coordinates almost want to give up!
Some one mentioned Yamaha U1, may i know how much? -
HI ksks3mum, did you check with his teacher what would fit your budget ?
I think U1 is 9K, not sure if i am right. -
A brand new U1 would be around that price. Secondhand ones will cost less, around 4k, depending on the condition

I have a friend who bought the Hailun H33P for $5400. Good feedback so far.

I have one YAMAHA U1 piano silent for sales. It is a first hand about five year old. Made in Japan.
Every year two times tuning from Yamaha prefessional technician. Just adjust the tunes on Feb 2013. Still have one more free tunes around six month later. Well maintenance.
Wish to sell @ $6,500/-.
If you interested, please email me at [email protected]
Thank you. -
Hi there,
I have been sourcing around for a piano for my daughter (Pri 1) since Nov 12. 1st hand too ex for me, and not worth it if she drop halfway. So decided on 2nd hand piano. Manage to get U1 24yrs at 2.5K last weekend, working fine except a bit of comestic issue. Now daughter and son start playing it… you can try sourcing from cargslist.com.sg , st classified etc … from my experience, getting from enduser is definitely cheaper than 2nd hand shop.
