I thought bread talk breads are baked on site? I still prefer their breads to those from other bakeries.
So far all the BreadTalk stores I have seen always fitted with a 'transparent' kitchen which allow customers to view. Their breads are baked on site.
I have the same thought too. Centralized kitchen, automated machines. Spend less on advertising and renovation of the shops, sure can bring cost down. For a business like bread talk, what are their top operating costs?daisyt:

I thought they have a central kitchen to prepare their breads and that should make their price very competitive. But to my surprise, neighbourhood bakery shops that have a smaller scale of economy can beat them both in price and quality of the bread. -
Bread talk has a centralised kitchen in plan or already built.

the bread can still be baked on site but the flour dough maybe prepared in central kitchen. -
Somebody told me that Bread Talk sprays bread smell perfumes in their shops to make people enticed with their bread. After the person told me that, I noticed that there are a few fragrant dispensers in each shop. Do you notice that?

Have you guys noticed that Ya Kun hardly employs foreigners, mainly local aunties and uncles. While toast box hardly employs any locals? Also macdonalds and KFC also mainly local aunties or students, or even the disabled. But Burger King employs mainly foreigners? I used to like the burgers fr BK, but I have stopped going there because they have become slow food I got so fed up waiting. And this happened in many diff branch.
While I accept that foreign workers are required in SG, I feel the boss/ company policies and thinking also matters. -
Toastbox is under breaktalk.
I always love to support ya kun, their tea, coffee and yuan yang are the best among these high class local coffee stall. And their no question ask exchange policy is simply so heart warming and professional. -
Mini chiffon cakes and pork floss buns etc are a want, not a need.

I recommend plain sliced bread from NTUC.

DH shared with me something he encountered at a Petrol station some time ago:Mini chiffon cakes and pork floss buns etc are a want, not a need.

2 local boys, one about P5 and another about P3, asking for the price of each of the Delifr items, to the eventual impatience of the cashier. Finally, the boys asked for one muffin and left. DH stepped out later to see 3 boys savouring on the single muffin they bought. -

If you toast the bread yourselves with cheese and pork floss, all self-prepared, the cost is less than $1. Big serving somemore and taste very good....you just need to wrap the bread with the cheese in between in aluminium foil and iron it. The cheese will melt inside the bread and the bread will turn crispy....very nice and cheap.Mini chiffon cakes and pork floss buns etc are a want, not a need.

Do you really IRON the bread? On High? With or without steam function :scratchhead:

Do you really IRON the bread? On High? With or without steam function :scratchhead:
You can iron it without steam on. The principle is to toast the bread fast. Don't need to press completely flat on the bread..just slightly press it. The heat will go to aluminium foil and then to the bread...which will toast and turn it crispy and the cheese will melt also....and is suppose to be done in less than 30 seconds.
