Yours is not considered far. I know of one who stayed in Punggol and the girl go to RGPS. Journey is very long.
-
But im still worry about the travelling time. Any SK mummy can advise? Moreover, when my daughter enters, it will be under single session.
Alternatively, i have to send her to nan chiau which is very nearby but need PV. And is so much harder to get in. 8:1 ratio. -

We are staying at SK and my P4 girl takes 1-way school bus in the afternoon. Actually the journey, if by car and leave before 6.30am, only takes about 20 min to Hillcrest.
However, understand that the morning school bus (mini van with a capacity of about 11 girls) has a few rounds to go after fetching RGPS girls, so the bus comes at very early hours. Exact pick-up time depends on which part of SK you stay, but typically before 5.50am.
We actually gave up the place at NCPS few years ago, but on hindsight, in view of the transport logistics, might not have made that decision.
Just hope that come P5/P6, there will be many days my girl needs to stay back in the afternoon, as the timing of the CCA bus at 4.30pm is another big headache.....They combine a few estates, e.g. Tampines, Simei with SK/Punggol for CCA bus trips. -

popkorn,
Also, has the alumni fee increased? Didnt recall that it is $500.
our alumni fees had been $500. It had been quite sometime already.
Every year, this amount of contribution had always been put to good use, to ensure maximum benefit to many students in our school. This contribution always go back to benefit our school.
We warmly invite you codially to attend our next forthcoming alumni meeting held on coming :- Saturday, 30 March (9 am), AVA room level 1. Our President will explain in detail - how the funds contributed had been used to benefit the entire school.

Thank you MWChua for your reply. Maybe I can ask my husband to send her to school too.
Hi PHTTP
Thank you for your invitation. I will inform you if I can go. Only mummy to attend right? Haha -
Hi all, my dd just brought home this short course (4X 2-hr lessons) conducted by Trinity Workz in Speaking Verse and Prose - Entry Level for P1 kids, with exams from LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art). The course is $200 including exam fees. Has anyone send their kids before? Would appreciate your inputs.

May I know of this AGM is open to non alumni member? Is the session only for mummies or can the DDs come along? I am an old girl of RGPS and have a DD going to P1 next year. I am still torn between registering her at RGPS or another school nearer my place at Bedok Reservoir. Will be great if both DD and myself can attend the school tour. -

I’d checked with the organizing committee.
The committee replied that the alumni events are for :-
alumni members who had paid and registered with us.
Alumni parents registering their little K2s forthcoming July 2013 can bring their K2 daughter(s) along, familiarize with the school.
While parents listen to Principal’s briefing, K2 children will sit at the back - given worksheets to color & draw.
There’ll be teachers & Upper primary school pupils assigned on duty to help look after these K2 girls, keep them meaningfully occupied, while parents listen to P intently.
After P briefing, they’ll bring parents for a tour round the entire school - to familiarize with the school environment.
Children can follow their parents around, take a look at the classroom & other school facilities.
Buffet lunch is served around 11.30 am.
b)
Registration dates for this year 2013 exercise would be similar to last year's .
http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases/
Update on the 2013 exercise will be available at MOE website in June 2013.
I suggest you enrol your K2 daughter into Phase 2A(2) first, sometime end 2nd week July 2013. Then monitor Phase 2C closely.
If you are considering Bedok Red Swastika (RSS) - even Singapore citizenship children need to ballot, within 1km. Many Bedok parents (both SC and PR) desire RSS very much.
If balloting is high risk - safer to stay put at RGPS.
Then queue up seek transfer into RSS (in case some child withdraw), once Phase 2C end.
By end of Phase 2C, RSS will be full house (100% occupancy).
If you fail to ballot into RSS successfully at Phase 2C, you’ll be thrown into next Phase, 2C Supplementary …
But if you are not even staying within 1 km from RSS, then no need to think about RSS.
If you’re concerned about long distance travel next 2 yrs from Bedok to Holland (Jan 2014 – Nov 2015 temporary occupancy) , may I suggest you shift nearer to Holland, so that your daughter is not so tired ?
perhaps rent a house in Ghim Moh, and in turn rent out your Bedok house ? There are many parents doing this; it’s a growing trend nowadays.
This can also help you cut down the expensive school bus fees to and fro charged, from Bedok to Holland. It may cost you > $200 (sch bus fees).
example :-
i) parents staying in Woodlands rent a house in Bishan to be closer to their Catholic High alma mater, and who in turn rent out their Woodlands flat to PR children (from Malaysia) studying in primary schools in Woodlands area.
ii) parents staying in Bishan fail to ballot into highly desired Ai Tong / Catholic High rent out their Bishan flats, and who in turn rent another place closer to their alma mater, somewhere else far away from Bishan. They’ll keep their precious Bishan flat (won’t sell), in case their children grow up enter into RI / RGSS / RJC one fine day, come Secondary 1 till “A” level JC.
iii) due to next 2 years temporary occupancy at Holland -
those affected RGPS parents may also consider shift nearer – especially. those sitting for PSLE 2014 and PSLE 2015.
Or those pupils staying faraway affected areas like Ang Mo Kio, Yishun, Sembawang, Marsiling, Admiralty, Woodlands, Bedok, Marine Parade, Tampines, Pasir Ris, etc.
dear Publica,
I just pm you.
