As far as I know, the birth month has no correlation to any preferences/advantages. Until Phase 2Cs is over, you wont know the the no of vacancies in each school. But I've heard lots of good things about Opera Estate and a nice mix of international kids.
Say that if what you heard is true \"there is no criteria for balloting ( as regards to distance per say)\", you can look at further schools as you'll be shifting appropriately. However, I'll call/email each individual school that I'm interested in to confirm if its true. Do take note, if you're balloted out during phase 3, MOE posting might not be very favourable. Check out this thread, maybe one of these parents can offer better help.

Thanks again !
Its a nightmare after reading the thread. Hope I dont have to go through such a situation. -

SAHM_TAN:
I am confused the priority of the PVs, grassroot leader, home distance and citizenship.
The SC who is staying 1-2km will get in. No balloting SC = 50phtthp:
i've a question for Phase 2B - hope someone can clarify.
example
suppose a very popular school under Phase 2B, has 50 vacancies left.
But there are Total 51 2B(Parent Volunteers + Grassroot leaders) registered in this hot, favourite school. Out of these 51 applicants :-
49 are SC (Singapore citizenship) children, staying less than 1 km.
1 PR staying less than 1 km
1 SC staying within (1 to 2) km.
qn:-
will balloting take place - for the last 50th place ?
if No balloting occur - who'll take the last 50th place ?
Extract fr MOE website
\"However, if the number of applications exceeds the number of vacancies in a specific phase, SCs will be admitted first ahead of PRs, before home-school distance is considered\"
http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/phases/
Any parents can help to clarify?
Thanks a lot.

There has been no announcements of any changes to the P1 registration process from MOE, so far this year. -
Shanna27:
Dear Shanna27,Hi everyone!
I'm new here and my kiddo is attending P1 next yr! Pretty excited becos she's starting a new stage in her life.. haha told her she's no longer a \"baby\" anymore and gg to an official school next yr alr.
I'm living in SK, Rivervale area and rivervale primary sch is jst below my blk! It's currently my first choice but i read in other threads that the competition is high for P2C... *stress mode on*
Initally i wanna put her in CHIJ Kellock as it's my Alma mater but then the distance really put me off... my parents place is nearby tho, but i dont want to leave her at my parents' place for the next 6 yrs... so i dropped that idea.
i was also considering Meetoh School, but that is another school tt has high competition as well right? *sigh*
what other options is SK in the event balloting for P2C (RP) is unsucessful? Many thanks!
Since Rivervale is so near you, you can try to ballot for it in P2C, but it is going to be very tight. Other alternatives include Anchor Green and North Vista which are relatively new schools (6 years old), but have been steadily gaining popularity to the point where they both require balloting in Phase 2C last year, for the first time in their histories.
There are several other new schools in Seng Kang, so don't worry too much even if you get balloted out in Phase 2C. There would be plenty of spaces left in Phase 2CS in schools near you. -
Hi all
Will they announce the dates for registration soon? If the father overseas will his photocopied ic be sufficient? Is it ok to bring kids during registration? I'll have to bring ds and his younger siblings if I can't find alternative babysitting. Getting excited

Your child's kindergarten will distribute a booklet with the dates in it middle of the year. Alternatively, visit this site more regularly. I am sure parents will post the dates once they receive any news.sweetbaby:
No, photocopy of NRIC is NOT sufficient. Before your husband goes overseas, please remember to get his NRIC from him.If the father overseas will his photocopied ic be sufficient?

Some members raised concerns about bringing children for registration (for fear of disappointment if they don't get into the schools of their choice eventually). If you can't find alternative babysitting, I suppose you don't really have a choice, right? Is it ok to bring kids during registration? I'll have to bring ds and his younger siblings if I can't find alternative babysitting.

Thank you qms.
My boy is not and will not be attending a local kindergarten once we return to Singapore. I wonder whether I need a letter from his current school as proof that he was in formal schooling. Is it necessary? Is kindergarten education compulsory now in Singapore?
