      A) time to teach our kids how to count $.
Maybe bring them to super market, ask them whether got back the correct change?

      Because in p1 -
some kids still don’t know how much to pay (bec don’t know how to count $) during recess time. So what happen is in the school canteen - when buy food/ drink, some of them conveniently pour out all their $ from their small purse & tell the canteen operator, "auntie, take whatever $ you need."

      B) start teaching your child how to handle school bullies (in case encounter one one day). Sometimes even in popular schools, there can be school bullies.

In one popular Sch - an upper primary school bullied a p1 boy. He made the small boy pull down his own pants. The small boy so frightened, went home told his mum he doesn’t want to go to school.

Yes, good suggestion. The supermarket is a great place for children to learn how to read the price on the price tag, compare which is a greater amount or smaller amount. Eg: I brought my child to the eggs section and she will compare the different types of eggs, price of the eggs and the nutritional value of the eggs.

Bringing children to the supermarket can learn about science, numeracy and language skills. Exposing children to real life scenarios help build up their knowledge and is definitely more interesting. Children loves real-life experiences.

Just to share my experience. My child wanted to have an additional packet of curry sauce. I told her to join the queue and ask for the sauce. The McDonald's counter staff gave it to her without charging additional cost of $0.50 for the sauce. I was watching her from the table where I was seated. When she came back, she shared with me her experience that she was scared and nervous at first but she decided to be brave and communicated with the staff by herself. She told other parents that she was waiting in the queue for a packet of curry sauce and not waiting to buy food when people asked where were her parents.

Occasionally I will take her to McDonald's and let her order food by herself. It's not as intimidating an experience as you would think. It's fun and is a good learning experience.

Hi, anyone’s child born 2007 with iCreative? I heard that unless the child can read books independently, they will not take in new K2 students for 2013. Wants some comments on iCreative, pls share.

After p1 registration end in August, if you want to buy school uniform, can start to buy around late October or November 2013.

Do not buy in December, bec after the release of Psle results in dec, this year batch of p6 pupils will buy their sec 1 school uniform. So uniform shops like "bibi baba" (for example), will be very packed. Bec shops like bibi baba (eg) happen to sell many primary schools’ & sec schools’ uniform.
