NUS law prof in CPIB probe over exchanging grades for sex

Nebbermind:
Has the persecution shown that the girl deserved lower score than she actually received from Tey so far?
No need to show this. Not crucial in this case.
Whether he gave the girl better score or not, is immaterial in a corruption charge. What only matters, is that he can influence her score and he got favour from her. -

The wife and daughter not in Singapore right? So maybe that explains why he is having this \"long time\" female friend. :evil:it is very confusing...
isn't he already with married with a daughter? yet since the start of the trial, only his former students have supported him in public. don't get me wrong, as a married person, of course i will standby my spouse, if i feel that all is not lost. but for this case, it is very strange. where is his wife?chenwj:
.
The new paper reported today that prof Tey has a \"long time\" female friend who acted as defence witness for prof Tey. Despite lack of family ties, she managed to get confidential information about prof Tey from hospital. Then both of them were spotted together by TNP twice; once at the lobby of Tey's home... -
His wife still in Japan.
I feel that his "trial within a trial" is making him … Lose credibility. -
well, I’m just not convinced.

Nebbermind:
well, I'm just not convinced.
He will be praying that the judge share your view. LOL -
I'm sure all defendants have the same hope!!
Anyway, what has the prosecution shown so far other than the facts that there were gifts and sex (once?)? -
Nebbermind:
They have also shown that he is in the position to influence her grades.I'm sure all defendants have the same hope!!

That's all they need.
Now it is Tey's job to convince the judge that the gifts and sex are not a form of gratification in a corrupted act. If he cannot do that, it will be presumed that they are and he will be convicted. -
Nebbermind:
Too bad not everyone read in depth into the case, and most people judge him (the case) by intuition, spectators of emotion aka court of opinion.I'm sure all defendants have the same hope!!

Also, note that not all audience see the importance of the upheld of the justice, but the judgement.... not until any such case happens to them, that is. -
I’m not versed in law or court proceeding, but like the other 2 cases, the prosecution looked weak. This is disturbing coz I presume they must be of some substance to be working as prosecutors and they also have plenty of resources at their disposal.

When a state's case not won, may not be entirely the incompetence of the prosecutor.
Before the case is a court case, the investigators and many other personnels involved in presenting the case. A prosecutor is merely a litigator to present the case, but not the ones that conclude the case.
The judge that takes the bench, even deep down he knows which party is guilty, he is not to make judgement out from the left side of his chest. He too, not above the law, and shall deliver judgement of justice.
Law, the very basis of human right.... anyone still remember this?
