      it is very confusing...

isn't he already with married with a daughter? yet since the start of the trial, only his former students have supported him in public. don't get me wrong, as a married person, of course i will standby my spouse, if i feel that all is not lost. but for this case, it is very strange. where is his wife?

      --------------------------------

Witness asked about relationship with law prof

Their relationship was questioned in court yesterday. Ms Chen Sei Lee, who works for the Ministry of Home Affairs, was the defence’s last witness for the trial-within-a-trial.

During cross-examination, Deputy Public Prosecutor Andre Jumabhoy questioned how it was possible that Ms Chen, who called herself a “close friend” of Tey, was able to get information about Tey Tsun Hang from the Alexandra Hospital.

This was because hospitals practice patient confidentiality, which means only family members are given information about hospital patients.

Ms Chen said she called the hospital on the morning of April 3, 2012, after she got a call from Tey’s daughter, who told her he had been admitted.

She had spoken to hospital staff who told her that “they have a Prof Tey” there.

Read the full report in The New Paper on Saturday (April 6).

      .

The new paper reported today that prof Tey has a \"long time\" female friend who acted as defence witness for prof Tey. Despite lack of family ties, she managed to get confidential information about prof Tey from hospital. Then both of them were spotted together by TNP twice; once at the lobby of Tey's home...

Has the persecution shown that the girl deserved lower score than she actually received from Tey so far?

No need to show this. Not crucial in this case.

Whether he gave the girl better score or not, is immaterial in a corruption charge. What only matters, is that he can influence her score and he got favour from her.

The wife and daughter not in Singapore right? So maybe that explains why he is having this \"long time\" female friend.

            His wife still in Japan.

I feel that his "trial within a trial" is making him … Lose credibility.

I'm sure all defendants have the same hope!! 😆

Anyway, what has the prosecution shown so far other than the facts that there were gifts and sex (once?)?

They have also shown that he is in the position to influence her grades.

                    That's all they need.

Now it is Tey's job to convince the judge that the gifts and sex are not a form of gratification in a corrupted act. If he cannot do that, it will be presumed that they are and he will be convicted.

Too bad not everyone read in depth into the case, and most people judge him (the case) by intuition, spectators of emotion aka court of opinion.

Also, note that not all audience see the importance of the upheld of the justice, but the judgement.... not until any such case happens to them, that is.

I’m not versed in law or court proceeding, but like the other 2 cases, the prosecution looked weak. This is disturbing coz I presume they must be of some substance to be working as prosecutors and they also have plenty of resources at their disposal.
