Hi Prawnieโ€ฆ when did your ex-Principal leave? And how long has your new Principal been around? Lastly, which school was your new Principal leading previously?

      Do you happen to know?

        Hello! ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm in secondary 3 now, and life is rather stressed up for me but i guess it's typical.
uhm my current principal is Mrs Tan Chuen Yin and she joined us in the beginning of last year if i'm not wrong. my ex principal went to Nan Chiau high, and my current principal used to be from Chung Cheng High (main)!
Oh, it's true that sec ones don't have mid years. When i was in sec 1 my english wasn't that good too but it slowly improved. For geography, just make sure that the content is there! For history, the content is also important, but more important is the skills to tackle the qns. We need to know the explanation what leads to what and so on, it'll be easier!
can't say much, because i'm in upper sec i can't remember what i did last year! ๐Ÿ˜ž sorry!
        cheers!

Also, YTSS has the best badminton hall in town. Nice rubber court. But the court 1 ceiling needs to be fixed tho. Leaking badly. :rahrah:

Most of my sonโ€™s classmates prefer YTSS to Chung Cheng Yishun despite it is band 3 in Yr2011 last ranking.

So far I got postive feedback from friends, teachers on this school. Overall a good popular school in Yishun.

You may want to check if school offers Pure Sciences & A Math to Sec 3 pupils & hob many classes?

My son is in Chung Cheng High Yishun - happy to note that the new Chung Cheng Yishun Principal is offering A Math to pupils who score at least 50% as heard he said it gives students an edge when they study in JC or Poly.
Also no quota system for Pure Sciences in Chung Cheng Yishun.
Guess between one sch that controls quality of results by limiting number of students offering A Math & Pure Sciences and another sch that allows more students to study A Math & Pure Sciences so that they have an advantage later on in life, Iโ€™ll choose Chung Cheng Yishun first.
Results are important but have to think ahead for your child too.

YTSS is a band 1 , autonomous school. My son attends the school. All the sec 3 students have to do pure physics and chemistry together with A&E maths. the rest of the subjects are what the student chooses .It is a very good school and the teachers are very concerned over the children. I am glad my son is there.

according to MOE's resource until 2011, YTSS was in Band 5 for years and had never got in a band higher than 5. You may check from MOE website for the info.

Just be careful how Yishun Town tells you all their students in Sec 3 are offered Pure Sciences & A Math. My daughter is in Sec 3 this year and she tells me that quite a number of her classmates and those from another 2 classes are forced to drop Pure Physics & Chem, and some are told to drop A Math next year as they were not able to score at least 70 marks or something like that. My daughter is so upset as her best friend is affected.

This is really not done in the best interest of the child although they tried to explain it is.
I think Yishun Town is trying to raise their school ranking through forcing students to drop A Math & Pure Sciences even though they strategize by allowing every Sec 3 students to study these subjects.
I told my dd not to talk too much in school as I heard the Principal of YTSS can be quite hurtful in her remarks.
