I believed if anything will to happen to the maid the current employer (the actual employer) will have to face the problem. Overall we are at the losing end.

Is there anyway out to protect ourself from getting all the unnecessary trouble?

I don't see why her employer would get into trouble if the employer is unaware that the maid moonlights (but if she has given permission to the maid..then she would be in trouble too).
But the maid and the part-time employer have both gone against regulations/ law. They are the ones who should be in trouble.

In my case, I don't want to loose my current maid.. but I want to get rid of that maids that sharing the part-time contacts with my maid. I'm so lost!!
You can ask them to stop the sharing of PT contacts or you will inform their employer and report them. Sometimes a little scare tactic work. If you know their employers, you might want to keep them informed. If it was my maid who was encouraging others to work PT, I'd want to be told. Better to be told by a stranger/ neighbour than by an MOM officer.

Errr... I heard fr my other neighbour that her employer knows about her (A) part-time job, in fact fr what I heard her employer (E) is not paying her salary... means she stays in E's house do general housework etc (E also rent out her rooms to foreign workers) then in A's free time go out to houses to earn $$. One house at least $200/mth (4 times a mth @ $50/time). In fact, E control which houses she will go to work. because somebody actually ask A for her service and A said to contact her mam and give her number. Then E will contact the potential customer.

Let say your maid get caught moonlighting, then MOM questioned both the maid and her Employer (you)…

MOM : You do know moonlighting is illegal. Why still you do it?
Maid : My mam knows about it
Mam (you): My maid did it behind my back.

                Who will MOM believe?

Report them to MOM then. Give MOM all this info'.

I agreed with einney as I was sabo by my ex-maid whom told me she need money for her family & children. I knew she PT during off day but closed one eye.
Reason: she went to MOM because she got a better offer & can break contract without paying back loan as MOM cannot force maid to go back to you if she refused.
MOM will not action unless maid complaint against you. Once MOM confirmed maid moonlight, 1st person to question will be you as her employer who is liable of maid's behavious as per MOM ruling. I was made to read through MOM guideline & you must be careful of what you confess as once you reply as \"don't know or not sure'', MOM will suspect you & you will be invite for more 'kopi' sessions.
Solution: Endure & hope nothing happen :xedfingers: or send her home if you cannot convince her to stop PT before she get you into trouble.

Exactly! That is the one of the main reasons why I want to end my maid's contract asap.

I heard her talking to a friend about PT work. So she is doing it already or has asked her lobang to find PT work. Either way, I don't want this person in my home.

I tested her by asking her to swop her day off last week saying I need her for a few hours on Sunday. She immediately said \"no cannot. I'm going to Sentosa\" !!! Despite my offer to replace her day off.

I can't explain it but I \"knew\" immediately she was lying. She said before that she has no money and only knows her way around Orchard! She thinks she can fool me by being \"on the ball\" with her work. But I've got my eyes wide open. Unfortunately I have a few months to wait before I can put her on that one-way flight home.

Agent tells me employers rarely get charged when their maid is caught moonlighting. But who's to say if my maid gets caught, the case won't get complicated and drag on? Employers at the losing end again.

Sounds like a lucrative (illegal) business for her employer. I would report it!
