What about RI, anyone has estimated DSA success rate ?

every yr the no. of applicants will be different so no point comparing.

and donch bother to look at the chance (%) coz it is not 4-D or some balloting process. If you are really made for it and have the right aptitude, then no problem.

My girl is in Year 1, so far she enjoyed the school very much. But 1 thing worried me was that she seems to be quite free and not much homework to do everyday. Although there are still some projects but compare with her friends at RGS or RV , my girl is indeed very "FREE" especially during the weekend.

Do any Year 1 parents felt the same ? Or different classes has different style ?

          Dear Shurley197323

When the tests, quiz, practicals, projects and exam results come out, you should know if your girl is too "FREE". NUSH is very self-motivated, self-explored and self-studied school, may not like the other IP schools. If you expect low in CAP, (recently graduated CAP 3.2 can APPLY Universities already, but it does not guarantee a place for you) NUSH may be a relaxing place for your girl to hide.

Just a penny for my thoughts

Yes, I will wait for her SA1 results. and see....
I am looking for some extra assessments for her to do now. Currently I only bought HCL assessments books. Do you know is there any online assessments or testpapers website available for them to do ?

              Shurley197323

Year 1 , esp. Sem 1 is the honeymoon period. There are plenty of competitions, projects that are optional and can be taken. Some of which you will be selected by school for further rounds.
Basic core subjects only will give the child quite a lot of free time as not much drilling is done. If a child is able to cope will, it would be nice to explore ant stretch herself. A perfect CAP of 5 is great, but there is a lot more learning that goes on besides the core that is essential to the child’s development.

Now DD is in year 3 , she has maxed herself. She sleeps only by 12 am , much to my concern, almost regularly, and I rarely see her "study". Besides the assignments , she spends a lot more time working on electives and projects . Only once a week she makes it home by 4+. Mostly it’s 6+. Her travel time is 20-30 mins. Not to talk of weekend discussions/volunteering.

I am not complaining even though she feels stress at times, she is enjoying herself and is finding this quite fulfilling.

Her health is of course my concern and I go about policing that. But the time management is a skill learnt by experience.

Now, she normally start her homework after dinner and can finish by 9pm, So she sleep around 9.30pm. Just went to Popular and bought 3 Science Assessments books for her . Hope she don’t disappoint me with her SA1 results, I just told her as long as she pass and not the last 10 in class, it’s ok for the beginning year.

Agreed totally, it's a school of great flexibility & you advance at your own pace. There are students who stay at their own level & students who advance away up to years beyond, it all depends on the individual, what they are looking out for in life. There are students who try their very best to get a CAP of 5.0 or top for subject at each level or in the Principal list. But it definitely takes a lot of hard work, self-motivation & interest in the
subjects for the students who are able to go up the stage on Speech Day. 😉

Since Year 1 is the honeymoon period, it's best for the student to take up as many enrichment or electives so as to build up the foundation for their advance years. For some enrichment or electives, the student needs to have previous modules of enrichment or electives as perquisites before she can apply. Therefore, it will be good if she can take up the opportunity while she can. 😉

Yr One SA1 is easy to get above 4.5 in CAP and actually a lot of the Yr Ones can get it, however, there are not many students can get above 4.5 in CAP end of the year.

Those can go up the stage on the Speech Day proves that they work hard constantly and they are served to get the prize. Right?

                        Hi,

What is the meaning of the " in the Principal list"? Are these these the specially selected students since Year 1 ?
